I hate it when people make me take my shoes off at their place. As long as my shoes are not dirty leave it be. The hatred intensifies if either it is a nice party, like dress pants and socks are dumb, or if they have a pet. I would bet your dog drags in more stuff than I do and I don't want your pet's hairs in my toes. Don't have people over if you really hate cleaning that bad.
@PoodleDoodleOoo lol you made me think of words I hate. "Cooch" omg it makes my skin crawl. I don't have a cooch..vagina..will do me just fine.
Oh and I am sorry tomatoes, fresh tomatoes ugh soggy gooey mush of a veggie on my perfect sandwich. Tomatoes dont make a great sandwich. I am not a tomatoe fan.
I'm really side-eying some names in the Names thread.. but no one in there is asking for opinions so I'm keeping them to myself. I judge names. I judge wacky spellings. So as we get further if people put up name surveys ( please note.. there are boards on The Bump just for naming... or at least there used to be!) and want opinions, I'm not afraid of hurting feelings.
Eh, as long as a name is somewhat traditional or culturally traditional I don't side eye if they're nms. However you-neek spellings like the one @KimmySchmidt mentioned her nephew had (Coal) I definitely judge.
I never knew this was an UO until I joined the bump, but I love maternity clothes and will probably bust out the pants here in a few weeks. Jeans with an elastic waist band? What is there not to love?
@AnnaS930 - I've been teaching for 10 years and it was superrrrr hard finding a boy's name for DS that didn't remind me of a hormonal high schooler. (We were actually Team Green so this made it a little more difficult). We ended up going with a really old name that has Spanish roots. This was very suiting for me since I lived in Spain for a while and am obsessed with their culture. My husband definitely wanted to lean toward a more uneek spelling, but I wouldn't allow it. It is so difficult to remember the "clever" spelling of students' names and they get pissed if you don't get it right . This time around we'll be going with another old-school name and it will be spelled "correctly" lol.
@PoodleDoodleOoo - yes I know... It happens with a lot of things like that. Starburst, Skittles, LaffyTaffy. Oh man I'm sweating just thinking about all of them!

I always make people take their shoes off. I do keep my floors sparkling clean and provide slippers for everyone. It always baffles me when someone says to keep my shoes on if I go over... not many people I know are like that.
It is definitely a cultural thing, but I just respect whatever the wish of the home owner is.
And if we have fancy parties, you can always bring inside shoes, like high heels that are not worn outside. That is fine.
But I think you saying not to have people over if you hate cleaning is a little insulting. You are in someone's else home, respect their wishes.

I hate when people brig tuna fish for lunch. I'm a teacher and we share a small staff lounge -- there are usually 10-12 of us stuffed in there at once and it's not cute when someone's tuna is making me gag...it's even worse now that I'm pregnant. WOOF. Oh and I love all other seafood...go figure?

Do people really have shoes that are not worn outside? The only time you're going to catch me in shoes is if I'm outside (or had to go outside to get to the place).
People who drive under the speed limit!!! Like seriously, keep up with traffic. and for the love of all things good, if you pull out in front of someone you better be get moving! So annoyed with people not paying attention to the road or others on the road....and GET OFF THE PHONE!!!
@camichael84 Yes, I have shoes that I wear only inside. Not in my own home but for when I am invited to a fancy party and don't want to wear slippers. But that is the only occasion.
Other than that there is never shoes inside.

I have to say I'm torn on the name thing. Made up names make my eyes roll so hard I get a glimpse of another demention. However I don't judge too much on names because ours are not everyone's cup of tea. All of our chosen names as well as my DD names is a nod to DH Nordic heritage so to some people they might seem odd.
I'm not into unique spellings at all. To me, a name isn't really unique when it's pronounced the same as its standard variation – it's just a pain in the ass for the rest of the word to spell. I say that as someone whose maiden name had a fun superfluous vowel that resulted in years of screwy paperwork.

The word squelch, however, is a completely different story.
