Does anyone have any recommendations about where to get some reasonably priced maternity clothes for work? I'm especially looking for maternity suits. Any ideas?
This has been quite the struggle for me!! I ordered some dress pants from Gap that will arrive today. I'm hoping they work well! I think they had matching jackets also! I haven't had a ton of luck finding blouse type shirts but I'm still hunting. Pea in a Pod had some nice cardigans, but they're far from the cheapest. Gap almost always has a promo code available.
I am a teacher so I can dress much more casually but I got some nice slacks at Motherhood Maternity. I didn't see any suits but maybe they have some online? The slacks were $50 each, which is expensive IMO, but they had them buy one get one free. So I was pleased!
We have a Destination Maternity that carries Motherhood and Pea in a Pod. They have a lot of professional looking clothes. Not sure about suits though.
Its definitely tough to find professional work maternity clothes. Although typically we dress fairly professional at my job, I am fortunate that it will not be frowned upon if I dress a little more casually while pregnant.
To be honest, I am having a tough time finding stylish / professional maternity clothing at a reasonable price.
Good maternity suits are hard to find. Stork & Babe has one plain black suit with pant and skirt option but a little pricy (and I personally don't like the blazer style). They also have a basic white maternity blouse. I find most maternity pants are made of comfy fabric and don't look all that professional.
Just noticed that Pea in the Pod looks like they are having an online sale on some workwear right now.
It's hard! A lot of regular stores sell maternity close but only online... Nordstrom, gap, loft, JC Penney. I don't wear suits but I buy pants/Blazers and blouses. Be prepared to spend $$$$....I think these stores know that if you're looking for a maternity suit you really need one!
I bought the majority of my maternity work clothes off Craigslist and at consignment sales such as Just Between Friends. They were dressy but not as dressy as suits. Good luck!
For jackets, have you thought about just getting a single button jacket in a larger size? That's what I plan on doing. For my black slacks I got some at Mootherhood bogo and for tops at Burlington.
Unfortunately, I don't think you're getting out of this cheap or easy. How often are you wearing a suit @gidgetcrew?
I ask because while I work in a conservative industry (I sell into fortune 100 insurance companies), I have found that I can get away with a nice dress. If I need to really dress it up I can wear a jacket over it. If you wear stockings and the proper accessories, I think it's perfectly acceptable. If not, I think you can basically rewear the same suit or suits over and over like a man. You just need to vary the shirt and accessories
While it's not cheap, Jcrew has great maternity dress up clothes.
My sister just told me about the website minefornine.com its like a "rent the runway" for maternity clothes... you can rent most pieces for minimum 1 month- and they have suits, dresses, more casual clothes etc. I haven't tried it yet but I am planning to rent a few dresses for occasions I have coming up... check it out!
