Wake up time for your baby?

I'm curious, what time does your baby wake for the day? And is it because he/she is going to daycare/sitter?

I'm a SAHM and since Christmas my baby has waking up to eat at 6:00am and then sleeping until 10:30am! Which is amazing but I was shocked because everyone always told me that kids are awake for the day by 6:00am, you'll never sleep in again, etc.

I'm obviously not complaining! I'm wondering though if I'm the only one with a baby who loves sleep?

P.s. Moms whose babies DON'T love sleep....I'm so very sorry. Please don't hate me. Remember I said "since Christmas". Before that my baby enjoyed waking me up 4+ times a night :)

Re: Wake up time for your baby?

  • My daughter wakes up at 6am for daycare.  Sometimes she wakes up on her own, and sometimes we have to wake her.  My older daughter has always been an early riser, but has always been a daycare baby so I will never know what could have been if we always just let her sleep.  We get excited when she sleeps until 7am.

Regarding sleep and babies/kids, one thing I have learned is that the good and bad comes in spurts.  Baby may be sleeping through the night with no problem for days/weeks/months and suddenly starts waking up three times a night every night.  We have been through so many sleep phases with my three year old.  Just when you think you have something to rely on, they switch it up on you.

  • I'm a SAHM too and my daughter who is 4.5 months goes to bed around 9:15 and sleeps through the night until 8:30-9:15 in the morning. So I can get a good 10-12 hours of sleep at night too! She has been sleeping through the night without needing to be fed since she was 2 weeks old, it started with 6 or 7 hours through the night and gradually worked its way up to 10-12 hours through the night.

Mine gets up anywhere from 6:30/7:30 usually. She has to leave the house with me every day to drop off her brother at school by 8:30 even though I only work two days a week and am home three. Since I have two older kids that get up by then anyway it doesn't really matter if she sleeps in. Her sleep goes in spurts just like my other two. Right now we are crawling out of 4 month sleep regression.
  • My LO is wide awake and ready to play at 5am.
  • I would like our LO to sleep a little later, but he seems to wake up when I turn the shower on at 5:30.  Some mornings he'll sleep until 6:30, which is perfect timing to get him up, fed, dressed and to daycare before he gets in cranky "I need a nap" mode.  But most mornings, it's between 5 and 5:30.
  • L goes down about 7:30. He eats between 9:30-10, then again at 3. Other than that, we have to wake hime up at 6:30 to get him ready for Day Care.

  • I'm also a SAHM & we put DD to bed by 8:30. She has recently changed her schedule on me. She now wakes between 12-1am for a feeding and again between 4-5am for a feeding. She will then sleep until 7:30-8:30am. She takes 2 naps during the day; one at 10:30am & another one at 2:30pm. These range in length from 1-2 hours. She used to sleep for longer stretches at night but the 4 month sleep regression hit a couple of weeks ago & it won't go away. She actually wakes/fuses every hour for the first few hours at night. Its like clockwork. I have to go in and help soothe her back to sleep for about 5-10 minutes each time.
  • To bed between 9-11 sometimes earlier and wakes up usually between 8-10. If she wakes up earlier than 8 she usually has a bottle and goes back to sleep for a couple hours.
  • to sleep at 7:30pm and awake at 6:30am
  • We wake DD at 6am to get ready for daycare. On the weekends she'll usually sleep until 630 before waking on her own. At the risk of making everyone hate me, she goes to sleep between 6-630 at night and sleeps all the way through. Yep, consistently 12 straight hours of sleep per night. Since this is our first baby and we plan on another, I keep reminding DH that this is not normal!
  • Hubby and I are early risers and wake up our baby around 5:30 am M-F.  Saturday and Sunday he sleeps until 8 or 9 AM.  Some weekend days he will wake up a little early but he doesn't cry...he just goes back to sleep lol until we come in there to get him.
