TWW testing week of February 1st

Re: TWW testing week of February 1st

  • @ultratomato It's so crazy they make you do so many. I know the success rate rises a tiny bit with each one, but it is still nothing compared to IVF. It seems like they would save money if you weren't repeatedly doing something that wasn't working, as opposed to moving on to something that is more likely to work on the first try. Insurance companies are the worst!

  • So sorry ultra tomato sounds like we have the same insurance. I'll be doing my sixth IUI this month as well. My DH then is getting shoulder surgery so we may have to wait at least a month before starting Ivf.
  • @Drove2u @ultratomato i am sorry for the bfn s. After seeing these boards, I also started to think that iui is a joke but it s covered by our insurance. I will try two iui s but we will start to talk to our clinic about ivf options in March I think. It is great that you are covered and best of luck with your next cycle.
  • I'm so sorry to be reading about all these BFNs... @Drove2u @ZoeFer2 @NurseTMD85 @ultratomato @Lin&say sorry if I'm forgetting anyone.

@ZoeFer2 AF started for me yesterday.  It was a really busy day at work for me and I was really just sad so when I wasn't working I avoided my computer completely and just knitted and watched Breaking Bad on Netflix to distract myself.

DH just went to the urologist and he's recommending we do IUI this month.  Going in for baseline tomorrow.  Good luck to everyone next cycle and I hope your next IUIs are successful.  We only get 3 IUIs covered by our insurance.  Not sure if we'll elect to pay OOP for more before moving to IVF.  Guess it will depend on our sperm numbers over the next couple months.

I am still waiting for me new insurance to start, depending on my af and the insurance start day i might be able to start my iui in this cycle. I hope AF doesnt show up too soon, then i will catch up with you ladies in Feb IUI.

IVF terrifies me, ladies. I admire ya'lls courage to be ready for that step. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover a cent of anything related to infertility. So everything since day one has been out of pocket.

  • @Lin&say IVF terrifies me too and we don't get any IVF coverage.  Our coverage stops after IUI #3.  Obviously I will do anything that I have to do though to start our family.  So I don't really look at it as if I have a choice in the matter.  Based on sperm numbers at our next 2 IUIs we may pay for a 4th IUI before moving to IVF but with such crummy odds with IUIs we'll probably just go straight to IVF.

  • @lin&say I'm totally scared of ivf and will I need to take off time from work. Does it hurt? So many fears since they put you under. Ugh hopefully I will get lucky number 6. Sorry for the bfn good luck next round ladies
  • Ok beta tomorrow 18dp trigger and 16dp last IUI (two this cycle) all POAS have been negative and I know beta is just a formality at this point. I feel AF coming on fast. I am honestly hoping it just starts tomorrow so I can skip the beta!!! Onto third and final IUI in February (assuming no cysts delay the cycle)

On a SUPER scary note, my husband banked his final sample of sperm this morning so I can continue treating while he is away. Since we will only do one more IUI before IVF we had to fill out ALL of our IVF paperwork and authorizations (my husband won't be back to be able to sign them so I had to do it now)! Oh wow that made the possibility of IVF seem real. It will be 100% out of pocket for us sooooo we really won't know a potential time frame until we have more details on financials. Not worried about the treatment but definitely worried about what it will mean for our financial security. Ugh! Who ever plans on a baby costing this much before they are even conceived!!!!
  • Sorry about the negative HPTs @PCOSat25. I hope the next IUI is successful for you and you won't have to do IVF!

  • Hi @wifeinraleigh28 , @ultratomato and lin&say , don't fear IVF too much.
I mean its not a walk in the park, but you'll get through that too.
It hurts, am not going to lie. But think of it this way. I went through ER being awake, a shot of morphine but that was all I got. I had 19 follicles and they retrieved 18 eggs. Painful business and I did some crying, and some banning. But
in the US the women are generally "put to sleep" - but are still breathing on their own. So you'll won't notice that part.
When waking up, you'll feel cramping (they say mild, but I found them worse as menstruation cramping) and feel pretty beaten up inside. (its hard to explain as it is a feeling you haven't felt before), but also that you will get through. Get invested in some hot water bottles and don't go sight seeing like I did.
In Scandinavia they give you a sick leave of 3 days.

Oh and once the eggs are out, open a bottle of wine, eat some junkfood and watch crappy TV

But in the meantime, I'll keep my FX that you all get happy babies with IUI and don't have to go over to IVF!

  • Thank you so much @wifeinraleigh28 @tvh1982 @NurseTMD85 for your encouriging words. I will follow here next month hoping the BFPs from you all !!! Have a nice weekend
  • I was going to test this morning (14dpo) with a frer because there could still possibly maybe be a baby hiding in there somewhere (because, you know, I'm crazy). But I had to pee so bad this morning that I forgot to test. How does that even happen? *facepalm*

Was there really only one positive from our testing week?! That's depressing.

@tvh1982 19 follicles?! Wow. I think my main hesitation is with all the meds and creating that many follicles. I produce 3-4 mature ones on 50 mg of clomid each month and have the WORST bloating. It's hard to even function for a day or two after the trigger shot and around my period. So I can't imagine what IVF would feel like. Thank you so much for the info though! I hope that you'll have success soon ❤️

@zoefer2 I'm sorry that you'll have to take a month off. I know how terribly frustrating it must be. But I hope you'll have some stress-free time off to relax and enjoy all the non-baby making sex you can handle haha

Glad to hear though that you are ready for a new try. Who knows, you might not need that IUI, I'll keep my FX for you.

Thank you for your kind words. I just had another u/s and I can stay on my meds. Started yesterday as I had to according to my cycle, but didn't manage to get the check.
So I'll probably have a new FET on the 22nd. (I'm pretty much insinck with last month) Now I'm just arguing my way for two embryos. Here in Norway they said yes, Denmark is still hesitant due to my age (33) so will see what I can get done.

GL ladies, hope you girls with the BFN haven't given up hope just yet. And are ready for a new round.
And the ladies who had their BFP, hope all is growing well...and remember, send us a little of your baby dust!

    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • @lin&say @zoefer Sorry to hear :disappointed: I was hoping for some good news from someone today! Is there anyone left that still has to test?

I may have to do IUI this month. Apparently my RE requires that you still have to have a beta in order to "close the cycle". I was not aware of this so I cancelled my appointment this morning. Now I won't go in until tomorrow for my beta, which will be CD2. It is my understanding that I will need to start birth control first to regulate my cycle, and I need to start it on CD1. I'd rather do another round of IUI if I completely screwed up my chances of IVF this month. I could scream.
