I haven't noticed that, interesting. Health reasons are probably a big part of it.
My c-section is scheduled for two days before my due date. I would've waited until Feb 1, but we decided it'd be nice to have him/her on a Friday so that H would have an extra few days off. Our doctor told us to pick a date between 39 and 40 weeks.
I asked to be induced with my second and third baby for size reasons. I make bigger than average babies and I did not want them getting even bigger. But I did ask after I already past 40 weeks. I've read in general a lot more Drs inducing to help work around both schedules ( I'm surprised) and of course health reasons.
I haven't notice too much of it either, but usually they won't induce unless medically necessary or you are past your due date. I will personally be getting induced due to IUGR and low fluid this time, but obviously can't speak for everyone else who is being induced.
I wouldn't say a lot but there are a lot of women that are soon to be due in two weeks and maybe babies are just starting to want to come early! I for one have a breech baby and will be giving birth by CS on 1/29 because that's the earliest my doctor will do them which is one week before my babies actual b-day.
I haven't noticed a lot of people being induced early. Actually more impressed with seeing all the Jan moms go to 41 & 42 weeks, pretty much unheard of in our area. I live in Northeast LA & the doctors are still very old school here and get real uncomfortable with 40+ weekers. I worked as a NICU nurse and about 4 years ago the hospital actually had all the OBs sign a contract saying they would no longer do elective inductions before 39 weeks bc we were getting so many 37 weekers admitted that really just needed a bit longer to develop.
With that being said, If I make it to 39 weeks (delivered at 38 weeks with DS1) and my cervix is favorable, I'll be induced. I had a precipitous delivery as a FTM and I live an hour away from the nearest delivering hospital. I don't want a roadside birth this time, so I'll be taking my dr up on the induction option.
I will probably be induced at 39 weeks. I have several risk factors for stillbirth, including gestational diabetes which can cause placental failure late in pregnancy. We are being monitored closely and doing very well so far. But my OB suggested the induction and I am very comfortable with that.
Hope I don't get too much criticism for this..My due date is Feb 28th but my doctor is inducing me Feb 25th. Not due to health reasons. But because my husband lives 9-10 hours away and my doctor believes that if I go into spontaneous labor it will go quick because of my cervix and H will miss it. But my doctor also straight up told me I won't make it to 40 weeks at my last visit. So I'm not even sure we will make it to the induction date.
October 2017 May siggy challenge - Parenting fails
I saw it on the post where everyone was talking about their due dates and a lot said they were being induced. I think it's selfish for doctors to induce just to fit their schedule but that's just my opinion.
I was due 2/5 but being induced on 2/1 as my dr was concerned about letting me go full term due to complications last time. Turns out even that far along was wishful thinking. I'm currently in the hospital right now being induced due to high BP. Labs came back with indicators for preeclampsia so baby girl is coming soon!

I don't think that really happens a lot.

I agree, I think it's pretty rare. What IS more common, though, is docs pushing for a c/s after a mom has been laboring "too long" because they're tired of waiting. I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find an MD that schedules many truly elective inductions, though.
My EDD was 2/11 but I have a scheduled induction on 2/5 due to insulin dependant gestational diabetes. Apparently being insulin dependant has negative repurcussions to the placenta and increase chance of stillbirth and babies carry more weight in their shoulders when a momma is insulin dependant which can make a vaginal birth more dangerous (palsy in the shoulders) depending on the babies size and increases the risk of an emergency c-section. Being induced early for me mitigates the risk of placental degeneration and still birth, but as an additional plus will hopefully give me the opportunity to have a vaginal birth instead of a c-section
I have a scheduled c-section due to a previous surgery to remove a large fibroid. There is some risk for uterine rupture with a vaginal delivery. I am super nervous about the c-section. My doctor said I had to choose a date between 39 and 40 weeks, and she agreed to let me schedule it the day before his due date. It feels strange to have the date scheduled.
Due date is 2/26 and I have a scheduled RCS at 39 weeks on 2/19 due to medication I have to take to manage my gestational diabetes. If I go into labor on my own before that I will be attempting a VBAC otherwise RCS for me with tubal. But mine is for a medical reason, I asked to go full term but it is not an option.

Man, I wish our doctor had let us pick a Friday for our scheduled c-section! We're stuck with a Monday so my husband will have to use vacation time entirely... ew.
I have extensive scarring from a previous emergency surgery and Crohn's disease complications, so a vaginal birth was nowhere in the plans for me. I kind of like having a c-section date, even though I know the baby will come when she wants and might not wait until the c-section date! I'm due the 20th but my c-section is the 15th.

I'm very high risk and it was determined to be the safest option to induce me at 39 weeks with my first. After 20 hrs of labor, I had to have an emergency c-section. I'm expecting #2 now and we are having a repeat c-section at 39 weeks to avoid any complications.

That's a bummer that you couldn't pick! We go to a practice with rotating docs, and since we didn't have a strong preference on which doc performed the surgery, we could pick any weekday. And we got lucky and the doctor doing it is one of my two favorites! I'm also really lucky that my H is self employed so his time is really flexible. He's off on weekends anyway so we figured why not take advantage of the two extra days
Ugh all the repeat CS mammas here already have their dates scheduled and I don't yet. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow and this will be my third CS and doctor said since DS was born via CS just 15 months ago I would have to have a repeat CS by 37 weeks and I don't even have another appointment until next week. This is BS, getting fed up with Kaiser
Just got back from my 38 week check up. No progress as of yet. DS was a week late and born via induction. OB says this time around we can induce on the 7th (DD is 2/6 according to OB) because she is on call. I'm thrilled I won't have to wait to be a full week late again if it comes to that! I am also totally fine with the fact that doing it before 41 weeks is based on her schedule. Just personal preference I suppose.
I have a stubborn cervix and with both of my daughter's my body never went in to labor. With my first I went 42 weeks before they induced me, which didnt work. I never made it passed one cm. I had an emergency c section 50 hours after they had given me my first dose of the cervedil. And my second was a planned VBAC, again at 42 weeks, but the ultrasound before the day I was planning to be induced showed low amniotic fluid which then lead to another c section. So I've come to terms that my body won't allow a natural child birth. This time I'm going in for a RCS 4 days before my EDD and only because that's my doctors surgery day.
