My girlfriend (who has a 1 year old) suggested I put baby gates on my registry even though we won't really need it for a while. Might as well get help purchasing them if we can. Well I started researching them for the top and bottom of our stairs, and I am totally at a loss for what to do. Both the top and bottom have a window across from the wall/rail. I've been searching products for options and just can't seem to find a solution. I can't drill into a window, and tension rods will prob not work with such uneven surfaces (wall at floor window up top). I read tension rods are unsafe for the top of stairs anyway. The thinner rails at the bottom seem too unstable to put the bottom gate up past the window?
Any genius ideas??

Those are from my Pinterest. I've flirted with all of these. We got away with having a baby gate in front of DD's bedroom door to keep her from going down the stairs and were just lucky she didn't want to go upstairs. I've kept these in case this one is more adventurous.

For the bottom of the stairs we used the north states collapsible freestanding gate and left it unattached. My daughter never tried to shimmy past it, but a few toddlers on the ornerier side have easily snuck past that.
