Periods After Baby

I am a FTM and my baby just turned 6 months old. I breastfed until he was 5 months but had to switch to formula due to supply problems. I just got my first period on Dec. 30th and it lasted until Jan. 3rd. Then I started bleeding again yesterday and have horrible cramping and severe fatigue. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

I actually had some bleeding that I thought was my period at 6 weeks. Two weeks later I bleed again which was a bit heavier and more like my periods. I really thought my periods were going to wait a while to start since my baby had been EBF. But having periods again for a few months now, everything has gone back to normal. Good luck.

Periods can take a few months to get regular again. After each of my kids, my period was different than before being pregnant, too. With my first they were BAD until I got pregnant with my second. After him, they were regular and very short. With this one, I've had one bad period, then some spotting a couple weeks later, and still waiting to see when the next one is coming. Not sure if ebf is hurting or helping when it comes to Aunt Flo.

I breastfed my daughter til 4 months due to supply issues, same as you. I got my period when she was 5 months and 2 weeks later I got it again. My doc said it would take some time for it to get back on tract. After all, it's been over a year since I've had a period. All normal.

That makes me feel better. I've also been having some mood swings since getting my first period, and I hate it

I had my first for over a week, but it was lighter than normal. It took a week off and now it's back with a vengeance. I'm sleepier, more crampy, and grumpier than normal.

I haven't received mine yet  .. Still breastfeeding and heard it will come along soon. Just when lol.

I'm also EBF haven't got my period back (DS is 7 months) but at 8 week pp check up I got Mirena so there is possibility that I won't get my period at all.

Mine came back at 6 weeks pp and was the heaviest period of my life (and mine was 7-8 days long and heavy before).  Since then its been weird, slow to start (3 days of spotting before Aunt Flo hits), longer lasting (10 days last month), and widely varying cycle lengths. Hoping this isn't the new normal.
