I think I felt her move out of my pelvis

So I was leaning back in bad, on my back because I was reading something for a moment before I rolled over to sleep, and I feel like I felt her move up and out of my pelvic area. Baby girl has been head down for a few weeks and lately there has been a lot of pressure down there. Since last night though there is no consistent pressure and I feel like shes moved up completely. I am hoping she is still head down and will maybe get right back into position and stay there, but I am a little worried since I am only 34w4d she has too much time to flip then get stuck breech.

Either way, has anyone had a feeling like that where baby was quite low then pulled up and out of there. It was so strange!

  • You've still got plenty of time. I'm 35w1d, and he was breech for ages, went head down for about a week and as of a few days ago decided to go breech again. I have a really short torso and there really isn't much room for him to move/flip around... but he manages to anyways.

  • Try to just enjoy the break from the pelvic pressure.  My baby has moved up and back down a bunch in the third trimester, but stayed low for the last couple weeks.  Baby has plenty of time to get in position.

  • Thanks ladies. @MississippiCatfish it is so weird to be able to bend over now lol. Such a weird feeling without all that pressure.

It's good that it at least feels better and it's not just an equally awful rib pressure!! I know some ladies here are on that end of the spectrum:)

  • Haha @MississippiCatfish I had that pain even when she was low. I have a tiny torso so she was planting herself at my ribs and pushing around. So I am used to it. I just keep my hand at the top of my belly all night when I am relaxing on the couch to get a break from it haha. Shes a very active kid, on all body parts!

    Perfect description of mine too!
  • Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm a FTM so bear with me -- how can you tell what direction baby is? I'm 36 weeks and can vaguely guess that what's pushing into my ribs is a foot, but it's all guesswork. Baby kicks and punches everywhere so I'm never sure what's what.

I can tell pretty well now, but you can ask your provider if you're not sure. My midwife always checks the baby's position by feeling (he's head down thank goodness!), and after she showed my husband and I we are able to feel as well for the head. You have to press pretty hard into your belly, but it's kinda cool. Also, at this point, I can tell that he is kicking me in the ribs so I know where his feet are. You can tell the difference between head and bum because the head is a hard round spot and the bum may be similar, but usually is soft on one side

All of this. My Dr initially told us when baby was head down and where the bum and feet were at one of our appointments. From there I could really start to try to tell from the feeling of that.
