Bleeding and cramping but HGC levels continue to rise.

edited January 2016 in 1st Trimester
Hi Everyone... I am looking for advise/experience... I am currently 6w 2d but have been spotting and bleeding for the last 2 weeks. My hgc levels are rising so my doc won't do an ultrasound for another 2 weeks. My levels have been 74 on 1/6, 205 on 1/8 and 3270 on 1/13. I am going crazy trying to figure out if I am having a mc. The doc says my numbers are low but we just have to wait. It is so frustrating. I have been reading every article that I can regarding this and everything leads me to mc.in my reading, I read about low progesterone being a cause for bkeeding. I called my doc to ask him to test me and the next thing I know his nurse is calling in a prescription for me without even checking levels. I now am taking 200mg tablets of progesterone twice a day. It has not stopped any bleeding...

Has anyone experienced anything like this and had a good outcome?

  • Yes! At 6 weeks I started bleeding. First it was spotting, the next day I had excruciating pain- cramps in my lower abdomen, followed by the next day (and following days) heavy bleeding and clots. Turns out I had 3 sub chorionic hematomas! I was convinced that I was having a miscarriage but wasn't. I am currently 9w5d and going strong. I did go through Ivf so I had the pleasure of having lots of ultrasounds throughout the process. I also have been on progesterone: first injections and at 8 weeks switched to suppositories 3x per day. Luckily this will end this Tuesday! If you bleed a full period like flow, call your doc and get checked out. Don't worry about little spotting though! Best wishes

  • I had spotting till 16wks. Was on 200mg progesterone suppositories once a day till 13wks. I was put on bed rest all first tri and was told it was my cervix that was extremely friable. Didnt really have cramping but had red/pink blood. I am 26wks and things have improved.
  • Stop reading online articles they are not going to do you any favors. I had some spotting and bleeding early on and my dr put me on pelvic rest. The more you stress the more stress you put on your body so as hard as it is try to be patient and trust your dr. And yes to waiting for the ultrasound so that they can see the heart beat.

  • Yup if your levels are going up but you are bleeding take it slow. It is possible you have a subchorionic hemorrhage and it is releasing. I have one now and the baby is fine :)
