pgal check-in 1/12

Hi everyone! I'm a day early but I just read this article and I wanted to share before it gets lost in the mists of my pregnancy brain. 7 Things to Know about a PAL Delivery

I'm going today for what should be my final sizing scan. Last time they also did what I think was a biophysical profile, checking his heart and the blood flow through the cord, among other things, which I'm hoping they do again today. We are seeing our OB today too, so I don't know if she'll go over the scan today or want time to look at it and go over it with us next week.
My husband is so funny. Every doctor's visit he's absolutely convinced they are going to send us to the hospital. Meanwhile, other than baby hanging out in my pelvis, I have had zero signs of impending labor. Which is just fine since I'n not quite 36 weeks. I keep telling him baby needs a little more time.  :)
I'm actually doing pretty well anxiety-wise. But, like the article brings up, I am concerned about how I will handle labor. I'm hoping I won't have flashbacks and will be able to stay in the moment.

  • I'm at the hospital now, in early labor...
I had a scare at home where I suddenly started bleeding quite a lot and I hadn't been feeling him move much today. I panicked and called 911 and they took me to L&D and they said baby looks fine but I'm in labor and it probably won't stop. I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and I'm scared about everything right now- giving birth, having him come early, I'm not ready...

  • Oh! @purpletulip all my good thoughts and prayers are headed your way! Here's to a smooth delivery and holding your perfect, sweet boy soon! I can't wait for an update?

@rainbowminion how did your scan go?!

I'm doing pretty well, I think. I'm sure she's going to be late, so I'm trying to enjoy the time left. Or at least not freak out about everything. I've been moderately successful. Kind of.
  • Sorry I'm late to check in - I've been using the FB group more often lately cus it's easier.

@purpletulip what a roller coaster ride you've had! Sending you all kinds of good thoughts and prayers and vibes. I know 36 weeks isnt what you were expecting, but from what I've read baby should be pretty robot by now. The suck/swallow/breathe coordination has already kicked in, so that's great news!

Please keep us updated. Thinking of you and hoping everything is just wonderful!

  • It's been a long week! Last week, at the end, I found out a co-worker had her baby super early at 28 weeks. They are both doing well, which is a blessing, but it's caused me to go into a tailspin and freak out over everything and worry about baby girl coming now or not. So stressful. Because of this though, I got my hospital bag packed, just missing a few things, and have been in super mode to get everything else done in the house. Downstairs is clean, I need to now get things in the nursery ready and clean our room from top to bottom to make room too (it's a HOT MESS in there). We then had a dr. appointment on Monday and our dr. said I was measuring small. He said 4 weeks ago I was measuring small too, but two weeks ago the other dr. said I was measuring perfectly, and this week I guess it didn't change. I'm 34 weeks and measuring 32 centimeters. He said it could be because I am just small in general, who knows. He said there shouldn't be anything to worry about but we have an ultrasound in two weeks anyway so we can check everything out then. Somehow this all still didn't ease my mind. Now I am worrying there is no room in there, or low fluid or something, I don't know! Crossing my fingers, continuing to prepare, and hoping for the best.

@rainbowminion glad to hear H is so ready for baby to get here :) That is really exciting. How did the scan go? I haven't had time, but I am definitely going to read that article you posted.

@purpletulip how is everything going? Cannot wait to see pictures of baby! 36 weeks is totally okay, our dr said now that we are at 34 if we went into labor they wouldn't stop it because babies now are pretty safe and they'd be confident about that. Good luck!

@mwmiller4 sending good vibes your way to continue to not freak out ;)

@pinkroses hoping all is going well right now :) Glad you are finding a good community on the fb group too! You never know how that will go.
  • @purpletulip Hang in there! I think you did the right thing calling 911 given the bleeding. And how exciting that you will soon have your sweet baby in your arms! At 36 weeks they have an excellent chance of doing very, very well. My local hospital which does not have a nicu will keep you if you are 36 weeks or later.

@mwmiller4 I hope you can somewhat enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. It's hard to wait when you just want them here safely.

My scan went great! He is still looking good and did a lot of practice breathing.

  • @rainbowminion yay great news!

@purpletulip T&P for you and rainbow! Keep us updated!

    Xoxo to all the ladies
  • @rainbowminion - How did the scan go?

@purpletulip - You and your family are in my thoughts! Here's to everything going smoothly. Let us know how you and baby are doing.

@oxsarah7ox - So glad your coworker and baby are doing okay - that's very scary!

I've been aright this week but now have a head cold. I hate staying home from work but decided to take it easy since the ob said she would make no effort to stop labor at our last appointment. On the off chance the physical stress of being sick kick starts labor, I want to be as rested as possible. I've had several stronger braxton hicks today - trying not to stress about it.

    We are so close ladies!

  • @Sarahs06 Hope you start to feel better soon. I agree with you though, trying not to stress and taking the time to take it easy is the best idea! Hoping you can relax over the next few days and baby comes just when they're ready :)
  • @purpletulip - Congratulations on your rainbow! Thanks for updating us!

  • Congrats @purpletulip! I'm sorry it was a scary start, but I'm glad there was a happy outcome! Are you and baby home now?
  • @rainbowminion - Thank you for sharing that article! During my birthing class I realized I had about 10x the anxiety about the labor and delivery than the other moms in there. I am so scared that something will go wrong with baby girl, but am working on anxiety reducing techniques so I can make it through labor!
