TTT

It's a three things day for me. Happy Tuesday!

1. I haven't left the house in 4 days d/t being sick. Whyyyyy aren't there some drugs out there for us sick pregnant women!?
2. I cleaned for about a half hour today and then threw in the towel. Showered and returned to bed.
3. Last night's excitement was good reading material. I like a spicy board!

    1. I third the feeling of being amused and wildly entertained by last night's board.
    2. My H is out of town and we've been writing love emails. It's seriously awesome.
    3. My H is out of town and so that means I can invite my dog on the bed at night. Also seriously awesome.
    4. I drink a cup of coffee a day; I've been wondering if my LO is going to get a caffeine headache when he is born? Is that a thing or my mind being paranoid?
    5. I work at a university and classes haven't started yet. I'm consistently the only person in the office. Don't people have research to work on? Anyways, it's quiet but lonely.
    6. I'm making bean soup for dinner tonight.
    7. I will be on leave from the day I deliver (May 9, expected) to mid-January. I'm starting to think this is too long to be away from work.
    8. Am looking into buying a Toyota Prius V. Anyone have one? It's the wagon Prius.
    9. I have some insanely overdue library books and am plotting my excuse to get out of fines.
    10. I have a four-hour meeting this afternoon. NOOOOOOOOOO!
Check with your library! Some of them cap out at a certain amount. Like at my system, as long as the items aren't lost, you have to pay $10 and the rest is waived. Though, just FYI the fines usually go towards paying for things like storytimes, summer reading club prizes (if your library does that), materials, etc.
  • 1. I haven't been drinking caffeine in the mornings, but this morning I cheated and bought an iced caramel mocha from McD's. Oh. My.God. It was so good and I'm definitely feeling the caffeine hit me.
    2. I've started feeling baby move, not kicking so much but more like tapping on my bladder lol.
    3. DH And I went to BuyBuyBaby the other day to start picking out registry stuff. Our nursery theme is happy jungle

    Just three things for now!

  • @PYLWhammy I now feel the need to go to mcdonalds...especially since I have several coupons for a free drink from the mccafe menu...mmm...maybe I'll just live vicariously through you though, since DH has my car lol
  • @laurenmdrn16 April 20 :) that just seems so soon! I've been freaking out about mine being semi set for May 3! I say semi set, because well, babies come early on their own sometimes lol
  • 1. My DH is an ordained minister (he worked part-time as a youth pastor a few years ago), and he's performing the wedding ceremony for his cousin this weekend. He's done 3 or 4 weddings since we've been married, but it still makes me giggle every time because he just doesn't seem "old enough" to have the authority to marry people.

    2. I ate a chocolate chip cookie for breakfast this morning.

    3. DH was named Teacher of the Year at his school, and I'm so proud of him. The school is having a surprise reception for him this afternoon, and I'm going.

    4. Seeing @bookelf221 talk about Supernatural reminded me... I've seen maybe 3 episodes of that show, and one of those had this super evil demon that announced he was born on my exact birthday (same year, too). I stopped watching after that.

    5. My alma mater was the only school to beat the National Champions in football this year :)

    6. Every time I look at/add things to my registry, I get all teary thinking about the babe that's going to use all those things.

    7. My company usually has it's annual (fancy) party in mid-February, but they recently announced that it's going to be in mid-May this year. Ugh, I'm going to be huge then.

    8. My nesting kicked in this past weekend, and I reorganized our kitchen cabinets.

    9. Last year, DH got a scholarship and took one week-long grad school class at a school several states away in the middle of June. He told me he's thinking about doing it again this year. Umm, we're going to have a two weekish-old baby then?!

    10. I definitely should get back to work.

  • @bshurdy- congrats to your hubby! Thats such an honor :)
@sarawifenow- the story about the dog and Cole literally made me AWWW at my desk
@laurenmdrn16- good luck. Fake it until you make it, you know!
@krands7- next time I am in Pittsburgh, I am totally looking you up!

    1. I dont know if I will make it to 10 because either "i dont have permission to do that" or "my draft has been saved" is making me insane. 2. I've been sick in bed for 4 days too!! I second the notion of there needing to br drugs for pregos with the flu. 3. All I keep thinking is...how on earth would I take care of a baby if I have the flu? I have a ton of those thoughts...the "how is a baby going to fit into this scenario" thoughts. 4. I'm 24 weeks 2 days...seems like that happened super fast, but also like I've been prego forever. 5. My dog also fights with my baby for real estate...she loves to lay on me with her head on my belly and he immediately starts kicking her. 6. I can't watch Supernatural or Making a Murderer. Supernatural freaks me out too much, and I've already had the experience of sitting through an actual murder trial so now I cant stomach shows like that. I also used to be a huge Law & Order fan too, but no more. 7. I've been watching/dozing off to Property Virgins since moving from the bed to the couch and 830 this morning. 8. My dogs basically think I'm a SAHdogM now and they love it. They will be very disappointed when I force myself into work tomorrow. I was on vacation all last week so by this point it's going to take at least 3 days to get out of Email Jail once I get back to the office. 9. It's time for another futile dose of Tylenol. 10. I finished 4 books so far this year. Goodreads is quite proud of me, but this will all change once baby is here. I also made myself stick to fun books over my honeymoon & leave all baby related books at home. 11. A bonus: someone mentioned not wanting to wear a bathing suit & I just wanted to say that my maternity bathing suit was the most comfortable I've ever been in a bathing suit in my life. No need to feel self-conscious, there's clearly a baby on board!! Edit for grammar
What books have you read? I need some suggestions...

    Feel better!

  • @yogahh I totally slipped by saying Luna's name at work! My nurse leader heard and was like "Oh, is that her name?" and I quickly backtracked saying "Oh, we have a really long list and I am just trying stuff out to see what sounds right" but I think she totally knows.

@kbrands7 why did I think you lived in MA? I got so confused when you were talking about having a snow day and the roads being awful. I am such a space case!

  • @yogahh I've read Still Alice, The Interestings, The Escape Artist (Diane Chamberlain ) and What If... Debating on what the read next. Could be The Goldfinch, it's been hanging out on my kindle for awhile.
  • 1. Why is it so hard to find a good house cleaning service? I've fired so many and now I'm looking for a new one...again. 2. I bought a crib that wasn't supposed to arrive until March but it came within a week of ordering. Of course we had to put it together right away - I love it. I'm so excited to be working on the nursery. (Pic below) 3. I saw The Revenant over the weekend. Holy Leonardo DiCaprio. I just love him. 4. It made me want to watch Titanic again. All three hours of pure Jack and Rose. 5. I went to IKEA yesterday and no one was there. It was amazing. I perused all the things at my leisure. 6. I'm trying to eat more vegetables but let's be honest, I still hate them. 7. My DD only wanted cashews for breakfast this morning. She literally told me she needed her protein. She just turned two. 8. My current craving is anything with whipped cream on it. 9. I might be going to the beach in March but the chances of me wearing a bathing suit are very slim. Slim to none. 10. Because French fries.
obsessed with Leo too AND obsessed with that rug! Where did you get it @TXmamatobe ?
  • @babyfmama yay for Leo and thank you on the rug! It's from CB2.

  • @yogahh I recently finished The Paris Apartment and The Aviator's Wife. I liked both of them. Like @Aquinna82, I'm considering starting The Goldfinch next.

  • 1. I wanted cooler weather but now I want it to go away. I'm too indecisive apparently.
    2. I know we still have a little while but I've been looking at outfits to take LO home in all morning.
    3. I am not getting anything done today. I thought I knew how to fix something at work and now I can't find what I had found before.
    4. I'm seriously contemplating taking a nap in the car during lunch.
    5. The dog was super cute this morning. He was curled up in his blankets and bed and refused to get up bc he was warm.
    6. I need more maternity jeans. I have 2 pairs now and with my laziness, laundry getting done is not a guarantee.
    7. I'm seriously wanting some fruit right now. It doesn't help that I have an Edible Arrangements store less than 2 minutes walking from my office. I may or may not have hinted about that to DH since our anniversary is next month. ;)
    8. I just finished my lunch. I'm still hungry. I only have one snack left. :(
    9. Thank goodness for headphones at work. People talk too much.
    10. Last Disney trip before our passes expire this weekend! We aren't renewing this time until LO is a little older - possibly in time for her 1st birthday since we're planning a trip around that time anyway. $70 a month just doesn't make sense when I won't feel like going pretty much from nowish until baby gets here and then she'll be way too little to go.

    1.  I have two formal events this week.  I've been burying my head in the sand as to what to wear.  I suppose I need to figure that out sooner rather than later... :|

    2. I liked the excitement last night.  I, too, like a spicy board.  Which is why I couldn't care less if UO goes until Sunday OR if someone comments that they think it's going too long.

    3.  Our new carpet won't be installed until the 3rd week of Feb.  I don't want to order any nursery furniture until the carpet is in.  I'm so impatient.

    4. I changed my mind on having a baby shower.  I initially didn't want one, but now I agreed to let my SIL and bestie throw it for me.  I'm excited now!  It will be on March 20th when I'm almost 32 weeks.

    5.  I haven't gotten my hair done since late Sept.  Oops.

    6.  We finally joined the rest of America and started watching Making a Murderer.  OMG.  So many thoughts.  We finished episode 4 last night.

    7.  I need to switch foundations.  I tend to like liquid foundation for coverage, but have acne prone skin if I'm not careful.  Any suggestions???

    8.  I went to the movie Sisters on Saturday.  It was good, but I think it's more of a renter.

    9.  I'm eating a delicious grapefruit right now.  I probably eat way too much fruit in a day, but it's just so tasty.

    10.  It's a busy day at work today... I'll try to staff off TB until noon!
re: #7 - I recently switched to a powder foundation from MAC which has been so much better for my skin and still gives great coverage. Highly recommend! and the color selection is amazing.
  • 1. Work is insanely busy, and I'm having a hard time prioritizing it all!
    2. I think this is probably because we leave for vacation next week!  We are going to Montana for DH to ski and me to relax/get massages/shop a little.  We are actually flying into Spokane and driving to Montana to help us hit three more states (WA, ID, MT) - that will put me at 40!
    3.  I'm excited for vacation, but why oh why does it have to be a mountain vacation?  We are getting our first decent snowfall of the season and it's not really getting me pumped to go to the mountains for a week.
    4. @kbrands7  I am in the western Pittsburgh suburbs and have been wanting to try Industry!  DH and I will have to get over there sometime soon.
    5. I am really excited with the progress we've made on baby's room, but am struggling to see if I am making things too girly due to my personal tastes (we are team green).
    6. Our entire company is re-organizing.  I am trying not to stress too much, but considering the worst case scenario is that DH and I both find out late April we don't have jobs, I am a bit nervous when I let my mind think of the what-if's.
    7. We do have a solid budget in place and plan for things like this.  We just need to update everything and look at options to consider if we were to lose job(s).
    8.  My mom is cleared to visit us in February and help me organize/decorate the nursery some!  I was concerned of this because she is having ear surgery in a couple weeks and I was really hoping the doc would give her the green light to visit as planned.
    9. My baby shower back in Texas is March 5th and I'm super excited.  My MIL mentioned doing one in their town on the 6th while I am down for the weekend, but I haven't heard anything else on that.
    10. I better get back to work!   Though this was a nice break!

  • @yogahh How about that Steelers game!? Dh's family is all from Pittsburgh so we had a house full of people for the game. Stressful there at the end. What an outcome!
  • @missnc77 I could be reading this wrong, but how are you done financing and closing on a house and being debt free at the same time?  Or are you selling?  I'm just clarifying to see if I'm being dense over here.  Have fun with the nursery!!!

We are die hards. My husband pretty much lives and breathes the black & gold. I can only say thank God they pulled that out, or I would still be hearing about it!! He LOVES Ben and was telling him to retire when he got hurt (among other things). He was going crazy

  • @LadySamLady I think it's 28 weeks! It's crazy to think that some of us are getting closer to the third tri. Also, regarding sleep- I felt the same way when I was pg with DD. I then realized it was all in preparation for life with a newborn! :)
  • 1. I love coffee ice cream and now I have to have some (thanks @LadySamLady  )
    2. I'm supposed to go to NYC tomorrow for the day (I go every 2 weeks for work) and I've been so tired and crabby about work this past week I am hoping the wintry mix turns into a snowstorm and I don't actually have to go... fingers crossed!
    3. I haven't really been experiencing any cravings, per se, but I had a milkshake Sunday and it was so delicious I want another so I'm counting that as my first craving
    4. Seriously so angry about Pottery Barn's delivery service having a busy signal every time I call to schedule delivery of my crib (re: my TW Tues post). It's stressing me out big time.
    5. MH just told me that he will be going on a business trip for two weeks in the middle of March. I know that's still a ways away from EDD but it stresses me out.
    6. My BFF confirmed she's coming to my shower in March (she lives in Chicago and shower is in DC) and I'm SO EXCITED to see her, haven't seen her since May.
    7. I drank a coffee from La Colombe this morning and I think it had a ton of caffeine because I'm still feeling jittery from it and I don't like it. Sorry, baby!
    8. I found out that two other women in my office are pregnant and all I want to do is go into their offices and talk everything pregnancy/baby but I'm not friendly enough with them that that would seem normal... but I might anyway.
    9. I just ordered some adorable baby clothes from Gilt and I am SO excited to get them
    10. My brother is coming to visit this weekend. I love how tight he and MH are. Warms my heart.
  • 1. We've got snow here!  probably 4 inches.
    2. I'm not shoveling this winter.  I will do all next winter.
    3. I've gained almost 10lb in 6 weeks!  I still have too much chocolate in the house, and it's delicious.
    4. Yesterday was our fetal echo (all good!) and anatomy scan (found an EIF on the heart). I was 20wk 2days gestation yesterday, and baby measured 20wk 4days - isn't that cool?
    5. Now DH and I have to decide if we want to go back and do the genetic bloodwork. I have a call in to my OB office to get their perspective. I think we will get the bloodwork, but that's it.  We'll see.
    6.  We aren't going to lose sleep over the EIF finding (soft marker for T 18 and T 21). We'll say a prayer and take a deep breath.
    7. Speaking of sleep, I'm still waking at 4am every morning, but I'm feeling pretty rested overall.
    8. My AWESOME neighbor had a beautiful baby boy 2weeks ago.  She already gave me all of her maternity clothes. Saved me tons of money.  She's one of those that doesn't look like she just had a baby  :)
    9. My sister lives 8 hrs away. She just got a puppy. She said she'd come visit with the puppy - I would LOVE that.  Do I want to fight this battle with DH who is not a dog person AND a neat freak??
    10. Oops just got chocolate on my shirt (well, my neighbor's old shirt!).

@js8812 Well of course a mortgage = debt, but I mean more so all of our revolving credit debt. So no, we're not debt free. But our mortgage is no different than what our rent was, so not having credit card debt (thus credit card payments) is what is giving us all this additional money to buy furniture.

    Edit: Forget it.

Ahh, I gotcha.  Congrats on squashing that debt though! :)
