People ask if Elliot is mixed race as well. Or why her skin is so dark. Well my husband has darker skin, but she's darker than him. Who cares what her skin looks like or what race she is!! That's so rude.
I was waiting at CVS for pictures to print and had the car seat up on the counter. This old man saw my guy and started cooing over how beautiful he was and that his dad must be a handsome guy. Sweet stuff. But then he says, "I'm gonna touch him now" and proceeds to very, very slowly reach out his pointer finger and softly poke my sleeping baby's hand. Just a couple a pokes and then walked away.. Strange.

I continue believe you let him touch your baby. I don't even let certain extended family touch my LO.

It's very weird. My daughter has really beautiful olive skin, it looks just like my husbands and his mother. I'm very pale compared to all of them. It's very strange. I don't know why people say that stuff sometimes.
At my DDs first appointment our pedi asked how BF was going, I explained her bad latch and tongue tie, then told her I was EPing. She told me EPing wasn't "realistic", that I needed my sleep, and gave me formula samples. Well when we went back for 2 month shots, she asked what formula we were using and I said I'm still EPing and she said I really need to see a LC (which we already do) and I need to get her to nurse because I can't EP forever, it's too much stress..
It is extremely stressful for us, but that's what we have to do at this point. I've never in my life heard of a pedi pushing formula so much. There is nothing wrong with formula but I am not ready to give up on breast milk and I would love to try to get her to nurse again. It's been about 5 weeks since we've tried. Waiting on her to get bigger because she was very small at birth. Also have since gotten her tongue tie corrected. Needless to say we switched pedis before we even left the office. Regardless of which we choose, pumping or formula, it's our choice.. and she's growing at an amazing rate. We're doing just fine.
I guess my EPing for the past 9weeks has been super unrealistic then. I'm doing it by choice, and (probably bc it's by choice, not bc of latch issues) I don't find it stressful at all. DH helps me with feedings, and it makes me less stressed than if I had to do it alone. It seems like no matter your choice, people will judge you. My ped is fine with it, but her boss questioned it. Told her my reasons, and she said okay and never said anything again.
I don't understand why a pediatrician would be concerned about a mom who EPs. It should be your choice whether or not EPing is too stressful to you, and they should be glad your baby is being fed!
I had someone tell me that I need to just start bottle feeding my baby so I can start smoking weed. I used to smoke, and will probably again, someday. But am I going to stop breastfeeding to do so? It's almost laughable.
Also had a doula tell me that there are not enough studies to prove it's not good to smoke while bf. There is so much wrong with that statement, especially coming from a doula.

I used to work for child protection and it was the policy of the department that we could not tell nursing mothers not to smoke weed because the limited number of studies show the benefits of breast milk out weigh the risk to the babies of having milk with thc in it. Not sure about that but one thing I know for sure is we need more studies on it because right now they are so limited and/or seem to contradict each other.

It is basically impossible to get reliable studies because you would need to conduct blind studies with limited environmental variations, which would require telling a pregnant woman to expose her child to a possible mutagene....serious ethical issues
