Pregnant after 35

It's only been ONE DAY?!!

Only one day since I got my BFP?! I'm so anxious since my miscarriage in August and so excited for this pregnancy, it's barely been 24 hours and I want to be 20 weeks along and telling everyone already. How early did you all find out?

Tried for DS for 1 year; one dose clomid Nov 2011 = DS born on 8/10/12

Re: It's only been ONE DAY?!!

  • Yes! I feel like time is moving at a snail's pace. It's been one week since my BFP. Found out at 3 weeks 5 days. I remember it feeling like it took forever to get to the second tri last time too. It's just such a huge and exciting deal and we have little to no control over it. I think that is what makes time seem so slow to me... Hang in there! This board is great because we can talk here even if we aren't telling people we know in our face to face worlds. ;)

  • I've felt this way every single day since my BFP... which was 3w4d. I'm now 18w5d :) Hang in there. Distractions are helpful, if you can find them. And enjoy every day. I have to remind myself of that constantly: enjoy every day. Building a human is remarkable!

  • Wow! You ladies found out reeeeally early! I ovulate around day 19 and my cycles run 33-36 days so I didn't even test till day 40. I have this weird thing that pregnancy tests are damn expensive and I didn't want to take one unless I already sort of knew it would be positive

And @redheadbride15 - enjoy every day is great advice! One of my New Years resolutions is to write down one good thing that happens each day, either in a journal, a "happy thoughts" jar, or even my own email chain to myself. I've been jotting things down in my phone and need to compile them somehow. New Year's Day my son said to me "mommy I want to be married with you I love you so much". Melted heart.

  • Also, I just ordered the book pregnancy day by day used on Amazon. It has information about each day and pictures too! I think that will also help me think about the amazingness that is happening each and every day. So many books, etc are set up around weeks that I feel like it makes the days between your week change feel like just time to pass until the landmark, if that makes sense. Hoping this book will keep me more in the moment.
  • @Sporty1216 The first trimester is really when every day is so different! Development happens so rapidly that it's remarkable what a huge difference there is between a 5w embryo and a 5.5w embryo, for example. I'm a scientific junkie and have a degree in developmental biology so I loved thinking about things that way in 1st trimester. Second is a bit more straight-forward: everything's formed. It just needs to GROW - a lot!

  • I got my bfp exactly one week ago at 8dpo. The last week has gone by sooo slow! I'm hoping that once I'm out of the first trimester and can relax a little bit, I won't be so anxious to make that calendar move. Hang in there, ladies!
  • I was a few weeks along when I got my Bfp thanksgiving weekend. I'm now almost 10 weeks now. It does seem to be moving slow. But I've had a few issues so that's been taking a toll on the excitement level. (Low beta at first along with low progesterone so I was on meds for that, followed by lo being underdeveloped my first u/s).

  • I was 3w3d when I found out, but I ended up measuring a day ahead, so technically perhaps I was 3w4d.  I waited a week to tell my husband because I've had two losses, one of them very early. I'm 11w1d and I'll be going public in a little over a week after my next u/s. I've been pregnant 3 times in the last year and I can't wait to finally be able to make an announcement!  Also, I had a cell-free dna test done, so I should be finding out this week if I'm having a boy or a girl. (And if the baby is genetically okay, which will be a relief.)

    •  Testing showed it was a girl with Trisomy 22. (age 39/40)

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

  • I'm so excited for you to get to make your announcement, @CarrieandRoy ! Will you also tell the baby's sex when you do?
  • @CarrieandRoy that week waiting for the cell free DNA results before going public was so nerve-wracking but exciting! I got my results immediately before Thanksgiving, which was great because I was able to share the news with my family at the holiday. I'll be thinking of you this week! Best wishes!

  • Yes @Sporty1216 I'll announce the sex. I haven't decided the details yet. There will be a Facebook announcement at some point, but I want to tell my parents the sex in person first -- in some kind of special way. And I might want to get together with friends and tell them in person before fb. So the full public announcement may not be until the end of next week.

...The closer it gets, the more ominous it feels. I will be so unbelievably crushed if I get bad news. When I was TTC after the first loss, I told my mom I felt like it wasn't going to happen because I want it too much. I feel the same way now. The stakes have gotten really high.

  • I can totally see that, @CarrieandRoy I hope that time passes quickly for you as you wait for the results and that they come back just great! Though I won't say I ever totally relaxed when I was pregnant with LO, it did get progressively easier to enjoy it. Especially after I could feel him move. I hope these results come back great and that you can enjoy your announcement and your pregnancy more! Hang in there!
  • I was 11 DPO when I got my BFP.  Time went really, really slow at first since I was feeling so terrible.  I'm 21 weeks now and starting to panic since we have so much to do before the baby comes in May.  I'm trying to enjoy this pregnancy since it is 100% my last and I'm kind of sad it's going so fast now.

@CarrieandRoy I hope everything goes well!  Hang in there!
