Thought I would share this article to help spread the info. If you use a "fancy" monitor you should read this article and see what steps to make sure it doesn't happen to you. Good gosh there are some freaky ass people out there

Re: Scary baby monitor hacked!! A must read

  • Yup- this shit TERRIFIES me. Our baby monitor is the withings but has only been plugged in twice. My husband works with computers and can do security but I still won't allowed that thing to be plugged in. Nope. Too freaky for me. Tomorrow we exchange it for simple two way audio.

  • I can tell you that at my work for an investigation we worked on we had a team drive around neighborhoods with a monitor and go through the channels. They could see numerous different babies as they drove around. Anyone can do that.
We don't use a monitor at all
  • Does anyone know if it's just the monitors that run through wifi or any of them? We have the vtech and haven't notice an issue. Although, I am paranoid and never leave it on for long periods of time. I only use it when LO is napping upstairs and I have to run downstairs to do something. I turn it off as soon as I am around and it's never on overnight as LO sleeps in a bassinet in our room.

It's any of them. All you need to do is tune into the same frequency.
