Husband and I are going to start trying to get pregnant around April (although now we're NTNP), but for now I'm tracking my CM so I can get to know my cycles. This month has been confusing! After researching CM changes, I can distinctly recall in past cycles when it was really watery, or when it looked more slimy and stringy. This month though, my FIRST month really tracking it, and it seems to be stuck on being more thick/sticky/whitish. Back story: I had the Mirena IUD for 7 years, until in June I removed it to donate eggs. I was put immediately on birth control pills to regulate my cycle since I did not have periods on the Mirena. Then after 3 months of the pills, I began fertility injections. I've now had 2 natural periods since the egg retrieval. This is my 3rd cycle, and I began checking my CM the day after I stopped spotting. We had sex on the day after my period, and assuming it was fine, it was completely unprotected. Now my CM has not changed. Some days it feels more watery than others, but it's still not completely watery or clear or like egg whites...I don't know what to make of all this, has anyone else had months like this? We've had sex a few other times now this cycle, one was a day before my phone chart would say I'm most fertile and it was unprotected. Since since I've had some very tiny cramps, like period cramps but very tiny, but otherwise still no other change. I'm on day 15 of my cycle. Each day I'm hoping to see watery CM to indicate I'm almost ovulating, but not yet. I did have an increase in sex drive starting about 5 days ago, but since I tend to want sex when I'm stressed (and I am) or have a big report due at work (I do), it's hard to know if the increase was hormonal.
Any and all thoughts are appreciated! I've learned an INCREDIBLE amount about my body and the changes it goes through each month, now I'm just trying to make sense of how my body in particular changes day to day. TIA!
I've been off the pill for around 6 months now, and honestly despite my attempts at hydration I still can't find enough CM to tell me anything useful. I downloaded Fertility Friend, though, and have confirmed ovulation by temping. Good luck! If you can't figure much out with CM, you're not alone.
I would also suggest Fertility Friend, temping, and ovulation predictor kits once you decide to TTC, or add some of them in if you want more insight. Your cycle can change cycle to cycle, ovulating early or late, and the signs can change cycle to cycle as well.
I used to have clear changes in CM. Now some cycles, I have mixed CM (like egg white and creamy). If I wasn't temping and using OPKs I would have no idea for sure that I ovulated or not. I think making sure that you are well hydrated helps your body make more CM (from what I have read), which may help you distinguish what type it is a little better. It can also change throughout the day.
I would echo what PPs said about it changing throughout the day-- try checking a few times throughout the day and see if you notice anything. Also, you're only on day 15, so it's not out of the question for you to not have ovulated yet. The bottom line is, each woman is different, each cycle can be different, so it can take a few cycles of tracking to notice your particular patterns. Some months I get more clear changes than others!
Thank you! I think that I ovulated late last month, because I was 10 days "late", and today was the first day that I felt "wet," as though I was aroused, but I wasn't. Good sign! It was still mixed with some white, but I'm guessing I'm just now approaching ovulation.
When I had the IUD my CM was more distinct, after a handful of months of birth control and doing a round of fertility drugs for donation, it seemed like my CM this month was all over the place.
Re: CM, I'm so confused! It's not changing.
Also, that's very cool that you donated eggs!
