Late post - first day back to work after a nice long break. Not adjusting well!
This check in is for anyone on this board to participate in and will occur every Wednesday. If you are new here and haven't made a separate intro on the main board please do so before checking in so we can "meet" you! It's easy to do just click the new discussion button in the top right and post away.
1. Your Name or Screen Name (not full names) and State you are from.
2. How long have you been TTC? Are you TTC #1,#2,#3, etc.?
3. What are you doing this cycle? Are you seeking help with a fertility specialist (RE)? If so, what stage are you in? Charting/temping? Testing? Medicated cycles? IUI? IVF? DE?
4. Where are you in your cycle? (Waiting to O, 2WW etc) If in the 2ww when will you test?
5. How do you feel about this cycle? (Are you hopeful, anxious... etc)
QOTW: Do you come from a big family (immediate or extended)? How many siblings?
Me (42) w/ partner for 16+ years
TTC #1: 11/2012 - 9/2013; 6/2014 - present
Follistim + TI (3x): All BFNs
Follistim + IUI (1x): BFN
IVF #1: 17 retrieved,15 fertilized, Day 3: 15, Day 5/6: 3 biopsied
3. What are you doing this cycle? Charting/Temping as
usual. Things aren’t going well, as in
something’s not right. We have an
appointment at the women’s wellness center in two weeks for testing.
4. CD24 and still waiting to O.
5. I feel miserable.
I was so optimistic in the beginning.
I came of the pill and right away was ovulating and getting my period
regularly. Then I had a crazy cycle in
October (triphasitc temperature pattern, 22 luteal cycle). In my two cycles since then, I’ve been very,
very late ovulating (CD30 last still, still waiting this cycle).
My husband is trying to help, but ends up hurting more than
he helps. This morning when he knew I
was concerned he told me to relax and said you never know I might be pregnant
now. I tried to explain to him that I
was worried because I didn’t ovulate, and I have to ovulate before I can get
pregnant. He said that lots of people
get pregnant without even trying and again told me I might be pregnant
now. And then he didn’t understand why I
was upset.
QOTW: Do you come from a big family (immediate or extended)?
How many siblings?
Just 1 sibling, a brother. We’ve never really gotten
along and haven't spent much time together since I left for college (by the time I came home he was away, by the time he came home I had moved out on my own). Ironically, we both ended up moving to the same town about an hour from where we grew up and actually live in the same village, but still don't see each other much.
3. Clomid, Ovidrel trigger + IUI, prenatal, extra Vit. D, started thyroid med 2 weeks ago. I did not end up using preseed this cycle.
4. 2dpIUI.
5. Hopeful! This IUI seemed to go better than my first. DH's count was higher and I was able to trigger. I've spent many cycles being guarded so not to get my hopes up. I'm going to just go all in this month and get excited
QOTW: I have one sister that I grew up with and I gained two stepsisters 20 years ago.
2. We are just starting TTC #3, so it's my first cycle
3. I chart/temp
4. I am pretty sure I'm in the 2WW, but my sleep has been terrible so my temps are all messed up. We'll see. I think I am 2 or 3 DPO. I just ordered some Wondfos off Amazon, so we'll see when they get here. I am addicted to POAS so we'll see how long I can hold out.
5. I am of course hopeful, but fairly doubtful that it worked seeing as it's my first cycle trying.
QOTW: Do you come from a big family (immediate or extended)? How many siblings? I come from a large family - I have 5 siblings. I am closer to some than to others, but I love them all.
3. Do progesterone and baby aspirin - starting lining up some tests (FSH and estradiol, TSH, LH, antiphospholipid antibody panel and lupus anticoagulant, and Hysterosalpingogram)
4. CD14, waiting to O
5. Not really feeling good or bad about this cycle, just happy to have an action plan.
QOTW: Big extended family (Dad had 6 siblings Mom had 2, all of which had kids). I personally have 2 sisters.
1.) Chloe from Chicago 2.)TTC #1- since October, MMC in December 3.) Just temping right now. There's still the possibility that I could be benched by my doctor this month. 4.) I believe I'm CD 5, but I don't know for sure because scar tissue from my D&C was blocking my cervix and caused blood to sit in my uterus for a few days. It was super painful! I was going to have it poked out this morning, but thankfully I started bleeding on my own last night. Based on scans, my doctor does not think there is any reason to think there's any more scarring in my uterus. So hopefully, this issue continues to resolve itself naturally and we get the green light to BD in 10 days! Anyone else ever have this issue? 5.) After thinking I was going to be set back a few months by what was going on Sunday/Monday, I'm euphoric today. Even if doctor wants to wait for swelling to go down, it's much better than the surgeries etc I was picturing when this first started.
QOTW- Big family! my parent both have 6 siblings and I have 3. I always wanted 3 kids, but at this point, I'd be ok with 1!
good luck @BernieRae ! @amimhof sorry you're feeling so miserable. hopefully you'll get some answers soon and get back to normal cycles. I wouldn't be able to deal with super long cycles. @agriffin92013 glad you're feeling less stressed... hopefully less stress will bring good news for you in the near future. @chloe97 ouch, sorry to hear about the scarring from the D&C, it all sounds very painful. But great news things are resolving and you'll be back to ttc soon! @rspalding001 yay for an action plan! hopefully it brings you some answers. @MollySm good luck holding out!
1. sinnet from upstate ny 2. ttc since #4 since last january, cycle #6 ttcal 3. temping, charting, opk's and trying to RELAX!! (but it's super hard for me..) 4. CD 2 5. I feel nothing right now.
Q- I'm from a small family. My mom is one of three, but her sister had one kid, brother had 6, but they don't live close so we've never been close. Dad has one brother no kids. I just have one sister. I've really always wanted a big family myself.
3. This cycle I was using OPKs which was the first time I tried that.
4. In the 2WW and will test 1/16 (or 1/14 if I get antsy)
5. Since I feel this was our best effort so far, I'm cautiously optimistic.
QOTW: I have 2 siblings, they're both married with kids. We have a large extended family (my mom had 13 siblings), but we rarely see any of our extended family since they live all around the world. We stay in touch thanks to Facebook.
Charting, trying to temp, but my thermometer has been wonky
Waiting to O
Feeling kind of worried. Before TTC I never thought much about spotting between periods, but now I'm thinking maybe something is amiss. I was on BC for so many years that I honestly don't know what my "norm" is. I have also been in several medical studies where my ovulation was monitored via ultrasound/blood work and everything was normal, but that was 3 years ago and I was never off BC for more than 4 mos. Hoping that maybe someone on here is also a chronic spotter or knows someone who is and got pregnant? I know it could just be my norm and likely is since I've had all of those tests before. (Sorry for the rant!!)
I come from a super typical family, three kids, two boys and me. My older brother has 4 kids who are extremely well behaved, but I still see how hard it is having so many kids and spending time with them like he wants to. I would like to have two, but would be happy with one (would love to do foster parenting as well down the road)
Me: 39 SO: 36
Dx: low progesterone, possible DOR - officially "unexplained"
TTC#1 since November 2015 9/16/2016 IUI#1 - BFN 10/12/2016 IUI#2 - BFN 1/21/2017 Clomid/IUI#3 - BFN March 2017 IVF: BFP! (beta#1 191, beta#2 378!) - it's a boy! DS born 12/6/2017
TTC #2 since July 2018 May 2019 IVF #2: BFP! (beta#1 346, beta#2 646) - vanishing twin at 8 weeks. Baby B still going strong - due 2/8/20!
@PoeMasque - I used to be a chronic spotter. For like 5 years. It started about 6 mos after going of BC (I was on BC for 13 years). I mentioned it to my doctor and had a couple of ultrasounds. The first left questions, but the 2nd one didn't show anything so I left it at that. I kept mentioning it at my annual exams, but the doctors never seemed worried. I always had predictable cycles. It was super annoying though. It got progressively worse and eventually I would have a bit of spotting at ovulation and then spot on and off from O until AF. Made me super self conscious with intimacy with DH the 2nd half of my cycle. Anyway... had an HSG when I started working with the RE and it showed polyps. Had them removed at the end of September and boom, spotting problem solved. I don't know if the polyps had anything to do with my infertility, still haven't gotten pregnant, but I'm soooo happy to not be spotting. I wish I would have had it taken care of years ago!!!!
Charting/temping and trying naturally while we look into alt approaches. We had a great meeting with our clinics psychologist early in the week. She really helped us think about the next steps and mostly let us know that we are on the right track on how we are thinking. She also went into more detail with us re: donor eggs. We are simultaneously researching foster to adopt -- we are starting the required training next week.
I am 8-9 dpo. Cylce is starting to look less wonky.
No expectations for this cycle between ivf not working and a wonky cycle as my hormones reset. I am open to alternate ideas, but the process for them all is very daunting (and expensive for many). Lots to consider, but doing well plugging through the research.
QOTW: I have one brother. My extended family is quite large though.

Today is day 10 of stims. Likely to stim again tomorrow, with ER on Wednesday. Seven follicles growing slow, but steady.
Scared. Hopeful. Really over the injections-- every part of my belly is bruised and sore.
I have one brother. But my mom has three brothers, and my dad has seven siblings, so the extended family is pretty big. Tons and tons of cousins!
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve

TTC with frozen donor sperm and science
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs. 2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs. Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire. Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus! fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP! Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
TTC#2 since 4/2014. self benched to lose weight but still going nuts over symptoms. I wasn't temping or using OPK's, so no idea when I O'ed! AF is due in 2 days and I'm having serious cramping, sore boobs (late in cycle for me) and dog and toddler clingy. I'm going nuts! Of course I'm peeing on some expired Wondfo's the last 2 days and getting BFN's. I'm obviously anxious but trying desperately to play it cool. We just hit the timing (possibly) so well this cycle (CD11,13,14) so FX! I have a ton of cousins and a brother who is only 14 months younger and a miracle half sister who is 16! It's kind of fun having a teenager for a sister - she makes me feel super cool!

An update-- my IVF cycle was cancelled due to poor response. It was converted to IUI, which happened this morning, so I HAVE SPERM INSIDE ME RIGHT NOW!!!!
But this will make IUI number 8, and the timing is kind of wonky-- I triggered last night for an IUI this morning, so way less than 24-36 hours, but since my estrogen dropped, my RE didn't want to wait until Wednesday, since my body might go ahead an ovulate early (despite the drugs that should have slowed it down). So timing is very rough. And most of my follicles were on the right, which may be stuck out of position with an adhesion. One big fat follie on the left, though, so who knows?
The small chance for this IUI is better than nothing. And we'll try again with IVF, using a different protocol, if it doesn't work, so I have a plan.

@dolphin012, I'm not sure. My RE suspects that there's an adhesion pulling my right ovary too far away from the fallopian tube, so the eggs don't make it there. But that's a theory based on my right ovary position in ever ultrasound (behind my uterus), and just a theory so far.
