Hey ladies.
At Zeke's one month appointment, our pediatrician heard a murmur when he listened to Zeke's heart. Since my husband had been born with a VSD (basically a hole in between the ventricles of his heart), our pediatrician decided to have Zeke ge lt an echocardiogram. He'd said it was mostly just precautionary but he didn't think there was anything to worry about.
Yesterday we got the results of the echo - Zeke has a hole in his heart in between the 2 atriums. The pediatrician wasn't sure if it's a PFO or an ASD (the atrial version of what my husband had), so we're now waiting on a cardiologist to weigh in to tell us which it is and what the plan of action is.
I can't help but be worried and go to the worst case scenario- my husband had to have open heart surgery when he was 11 months old in order to close up his hole and I'm worried about my son having to go through that experience as well. Plus, doctors had heard an arrhythmia in his heart before Zeke was born and I wouldn't be surprised if that was connected.
Anyone have experience with either type of hole in the heart? I hate knowing there's something wrong with my little guy.

I know there's nothing I could do to prevent it and there's nothing I can do to fix it now but I'm still worried about my little man.
Re: Heart murmur
My cousin had a hole between atriums, it was actually pretty severe and she had to have open heart surgery almost immediately after she was born. Her recovery went great and she is now a happy/healthy 19 year old. As far as I know, once it was corrected she had no other issues.
DH was born with Ebstein's Anomoly (a defect between the valves of his heart where they don't close properly causing blood to flow back into the atrium making the heart enlarged) while its not genetic I always worry DS will also have it. I wait for the day they hear a murmur. His US in utero showed no abnormalities but I wish they would do another US now just to make sure.
