My first induction has been a nightmare. I went in on Friday, as scheduled, and was given cervadil (I think that's what it's called) to begin softening my cervix. The cervadil was inserted for 12 hours. I had some cramping and then pretty steady contractions.
After 12 hours, I hadn't dilated and my doctor decided to give me another dose of cervadil which was inserted for 12 more hours. My contractions were 2-5 minutes apart and really intense and painful. I ended up dilating 1 cm.
My doctor decided to send me home last night to relax a couple days and is inducing me again on Monday night. The entire induction was a blur and everything felt rushed and painful. When the cervadil was taken out for the second time, my contractions subsided and I came home without a baby, sad and confused.
What's discouraging is my doctor had asked my pain level during contractions, to which I answered a 10, and she said I am probably going through more like a 2 and how I wont be able to handle the pain of child birth if I'm already complaining. She is inducing me because she's concerned my baby is small, but then put my induction off to work around her vacation plans and then ended up sending me home. Apparently there's no rush after all.
I'm here at home now still in shock that I haven't given birth.
What a weird weekend...
I wish my doctor was more supportive and consistent. Can't wait to have my baby so I don't have to deal with her anymore.
Re: Feeling discouraged with my induction.
also, don't let someone else tell you what you can and can't handle. they have NO IDEA what you're feeling and what the pain is like for you. you're strong and capable. Keep telling yourself that no matter what others tell you.
Sorry you're dealing with this. Getting your hopes up and then leaving you hanging is awful at this stage in the game. Get a good book, or netflix series to binge on and hunker down with your favorite comfort foods. The end feels like forever, but it won't be long now. good luck mama
Not sure why yours was so weird.
I don't understand why a small baby would be cause for an induction? And it does seem that you were scheduled around your dr.'s vacation rather than your needs. If there is no medical reason for an induction maybe you could wait it out until baby is ready. And if you are not happy with this dr. I hope you can find another in your practice to see from now on.
