2016 Family Vacation Ideas

Who has a family vacation planned for 2016, and where are you headed?! Hubby and I are wanting to plan something for sometime in the summer or fall when LO gets a little older. Any recommendations for places to go in the Southeast? We are wanting to hold off on Disney and places like that for when LO is a few years old.

My family rents a house at the beach for a week every summer. We go to the Outer Banks which is about a 5 hour drive for us...should be extra fun this year with a 2 year old and 7 month old lol.

We're in Key Largo right now! Vacation looks a little different with a baby, haha

Love the Outer Banks! I've gone several times and have had a great experience each time. Never been to Key Largo. I should have included in my original post that hubby isn't much of a beach person. He can do something with a pool but only likes to spend a couple hours at the pool and then he's over it. He loves casinos, but obviously that isn't a realistic vacation spot with a baby. We've been to Biloxi, MS and love it because it has a little bit of everything - shopping, restaurants and bars, casinos, pool, ocean, etc. I think we might consider going on a vacation with hubby, myself and LO plus my parents. They have already offered to join us somewhere so that we have a babysitter a couple of the nights.

Savannah, GA/Tybee Island is always fun.  You can stay on the beach in Tybee and the drive to Savannah is like 15 minutes.  Such a beautiful town and the beaches are nice.  It has a great southern feel to it.

We just booked a house at the beach for a week with my parents in July! My moms best friend has a house down the road and her grandson is turning 1 in July so it'll be a blast with him and our 9 month old.

My husband and I have been going on forest holidays the past few years, we love it so we booked it again for this year. We booked a cabin in Scotland by a lake. We have a fireplace and a hot tub. We are going in November, so we will have my 30th and my son's 1st to celebrate

In June we are going with my family to Cancun. It's going to be fun there will be 6 kids 2 and under going. Then in December we will be going to Fort Myers for Christmas! Can't wait for all the trips.

I agree with Outer Banks!! Such a great family spot and not ever overly crowded. Beaches are perfect! Also love renting a house, helps keep you on your own schedule better plus you can make and cook your meals on your own time without having to go out all the time.

@swickham7 that's where we've gone the last two summers on vacation. Decided to go back to our favorite beach in Maine this summer.

We are doing Gulf Shores, AL. It's quiet when we go, which is right before tourist season. We stay in a condo. Depending on where you live, we've done a long weekend in Indianapolis. We live here but we are going to try and take our little guy to his first convention the beginning of September - Cincinnati Comic Expo. I have ideas for family cosplay.
