Sudafed mishap!

My milk production plummeted today and I figured out my husband grabbed the mucinex and not the other decongestant yesterday so I have been doses with sudafed for the past day. I am pretty sure this is the culprit for my dramatic drop in milk production.

I have searched the internet to see how long I can expect this reduction or if its perminent and cant find any literature or forum discussions. Anyone have first hand experience w this or insight to offer? Ive been pumping after feeds and supplimenting with frozen expressed milk for the past day.

Keep your water intake up and it should only be a few days once you stop taking it. Good luck!

I think you will likely be able to recover now that you have stopped taking it, it may just take a few days. I agree lots of water.

LactMed says you should recover. I was actually just reading up on this today.

My LC said that if you take sudafed it will reduce your supply pemanently and it won't come back. My doctor told me it was ok. I didn't know who to believe so I just didn't take it.

Try fenugreek pills as well or mothers milk tea and continue to pump whenever u can to up the supply and demand.
