Anyone else considering this after baby is born? This will be #3 for us. We have kind of always thought 4 was or number but I am feeling like that may be too much now. I love my kiddos but I want to be able to travel and treat them to things. Not to mention new vehicle is in order and lots of expenses! I'm trying to think about it now so I can put a lot of thought into it! It makes me a little sad though knowing it would be permanent. I am pretty young (will be 26 when baby comes) so just scared I may change my mind in the future. Any advice or thoughts?
Re: Tubes tied after?
When I changed my mind it was removed and got preg 6 mos later. I'm 34 so not young but not old lol maybe consider a less permanent solution since you are only 26 ?tho I dunno if your age matters as much as what you can handle emotionally physically financially. ..lol
DH has already said that he's getting a vasectomy at some point. This is baby #2 for us, and I'm 27 and he's 29. I probably will not get my tubes tied unless he's in that percentage that knocks me up despite a vasectomy.
Typically, vasectomies are easier on men than a tubal ligation is on women. I remember my mom telling me that she had her tubes tied when she had my brother (he was a c-section), and she told me that it hurt more than the actual C.
I highly encourage you to bring this up to your doctor ASAP so you have plenty of time to discuss your options.
Here's some info I found for you from the Mayo Clinic. It goes over some timelines as to when you can have it done after a vaginal birth. It can be done lapriscopically now, but if you don't have a c-section, you will likely go under general anesthesia. I've never seen one performed (aside from those who have had c-sections) without general anesthesia.
For a vasectomy, men generally do not require general anesthesia. They're given some sort of medication IV to help them forget and feel sleepy, and a local anesthetic to the scrotum. The procedure (so I'm told), only takes a few minutes. There is discomfort, but it is generally much safer for him to have a vasectomy than it is for you to have a tubal because of the general anesthesia.
Hope this helps!

im not sure the advantages to consider an alternative?
I am thinking about getting my tubes tied with my c section this time around bc DH and I are complete with 2 kids and I'm old! Lol I'll be 36 when I have this one and I don't want to be 40 having another baby. But being that you are so young - you may want to look into other options.
