@tgortney A lot of them are. I have two cockers and they're such sweeties. They so sweet and love to cuddle. I love them to pieces. They also get along with each other really well and are protective of each other. I know they say that spaniels, especially cocker spaniels, have temperament issues but I think it's in how you raise them because I've never had issues!

Our fur baby Newton came to this last April when I happened to see his picture on a Petfinder posting. He was at a high kill shelter in Chilton, Alabama and a local dog rescue group wanted to bring him to Minneapolis to be adopted. They just needed someone to foster him. We had just moved into our very first house and so I made a case to my DH that we should foster him.
The night he arrived, he immediately snuggled up to me and gave me kisses. I understood then why the shelter in AL called him "Lovely." Because he really was.
We had him about two days when I knew I could never let anyone else adopt him.
After a couple months, I realized that he was on his best behavior during that foster period. We soon learned he is a little escape artist, as he snuck out of his crate two or three times. He also has an insatiable food drive and a real romping spirit when we head to the dog park. Thus far, we have not met any dog (or person) who doesn't like him.
The best thing about him is all the love he gives us. He loves to cradle his head in my lap and curl up right next to me, my mother, really anyone.
Here he is... in the last picture, he's decided to cram himself into his friend Tolita's bed. She's ten pounds and he is over fifty. He does have two dog beds of his own and his own chair too but he loves her little bed.
The kitty is my BaileyCat. She is 8 and I actually had to help deliver her when she became stuck in her mama during labour! She's a great cat who just does her own thing. I'm sure she won't even notice a baby in the house haha
The husky is Demon (named after the lead dog from snow dogs) he is a pure bred Siberian husky my boyfriend got at 7 months. He is super well behaved. And has a crazy personality. He will have a conversation with you and everything! He follows me around now that I'm pregnant. He is really good with babies so I don't expect any trouble from him.
The sleepy German shepherd is Ava. I have had her since 6 weeks, although for about 6 months she was living with my ex and I'm sure this is where her anxiety problems come from. (He worked a lot and didn't spend any time with her) she LoVES to cuddle and have attention. She will flick your phone out of your hand if you aren't paying attention (we're working on manners) she has come a long way in the last couple months and is becoming better behaved every day we work with her. I'm sure she will be jealous when little one gets here.
So I'm the one with Kingsley the greyhound, aka a breed that is particularly dangerous to have run loose due to their speed, desire to run and prey drive. Don't worry this story ends well I just feel the need to share it because I'm still rattled! We are so so so careful with our gates but somehow last night he got out of the yard. I was panicking calling the rescue to mobilize a greyhound search (yes, it's that crazy when they run away, everyone who has a hound knows the fear and goes out with squawkers to try to find them if they know). Meanwhile my husband took off running in the direction of the busiest street near us just in case, spotted him sniffing at the end of the block and watched him take off down the sidewalk of the busy street. Against all odds DH somehow chased him down and caught him. We are so lucky in so many ways and really dodged a bullet...
I guess lesson of the day was despite my near OCD checking of the gates, we have to always keep them locked from now on. He's microchipped and wears a collar so I guess that's all we can really do!
She was around a very bratty little boy when she was a puppy and a since then has avoids kids but I think she will be good with ours as they grow up together.
She is pretty much the perfect dog, so good never chews or destroys stuff, super calm and friendly. Except she hates being left alone so she will howl and bark the entire time we are gone.
Missing her hardcore right now while we are on vacation but thankfully her daycare puts pictures and videos up everyday so I can sneak a peek. 8 more days!!!
My kids! They LOVE babies and I know they will be great with our little one. They are just going to want to always be in his face so we will have to work on that!
This is Bishop. He's our Boston Terrier and he's 2. We've had Bishop since he was 8 weeks old and he's definitely our 'kid'. He's super hyperactive and playful which is my only concern right now. He loves to play with kids but he hasn't been around small babies so some training may be in order here soon. He shows the bump love on a daily basis. Bishop likes to lay on the couch and cuddle but also likes to run around the yard to exert his energy.
This is my puppy Charlie that I just got for Christmas. He is a black lab, and is about 11 weeks old. He is so loving! This is my first pet, and I'm already crazy about him.

We really want a Boston, but keep hearing mixed reviews about them. Do you find yours is hyper? I read some places they are chill and low maintenance, but some people have said its the complete opposite. He is ADORABLE!! I have also read they are great with kids (and cats) so you will need to keep me posted on how he is with baby!
This is Elliot the frenchie! Yes, we named him after ET (one of my all time favorite movies)... He grunts like ET so maybe Elliot wasn't the better name to choose. He's almost 2 years old and my TERROR child. He's better described like a sour patch kid, first he will tear up all of your woodwork in your home, and then he will cuddle up on your lap because he's so tired and schweepy. He is obsessed with babies and will be by the baby's side (probably in the most annoying way and most likely to steal toys ). He is definitely preparing us for kids, but we wouldn't trade him for the world!!
Finn is the orange tabby, and Sammie is the Maine Coon mix. Finn a 2 year old male and Sammie is a 1 and half year old female. I've had Finn since he was 6 months and Sammie since she was 8 weeks. I adopted both of them through Foster families in Brooklyn.
Finn has a personality like a dog, he is super outgoing and inquisitive. He approaches and rubs on everyone he comes across and even likes to go outside on walks with his cat harness. I am a little worried about how Finn will be with the baby because he tries to jump in and on top of everything, and I feel like he might jump in the crib. I know he would never hurt a fly, but jumping into a crib wouldn't be too safe.
Sammie is a very sweet, shy girl. Even though she is no longer a kitten, she still kneads my belly and purrs all the time. However, she is scared of loud noises and people she doesn't know. She would never hurt anyone, and I am not worried at all how she will interact with the baby- if she even interacts at all.
@yogahh Thank you!! Bishop can be hyper. He greets you after work like he hasn't seen you in YEARS! But he definitely knows how to calm down if you tell him to 'relax'.....I think it's partially bc we have to crate him during the day. He gets separation anxiety and will tear stuff up if left alone too long.
He does very well with the toddler age that can chase him, throw toys, & play. I'll have to keep you posted on how he does with a newborn. Definitely a very loving/affectionate family dog. He was super easy to house train and can follow basic commands without formal training. I'm more concerned that he'll want to 'play' with the newborn so I want to get him training to follow commands. He thinks he's human (probably our fault) so he tests limits sometimes.
This is Dempsey. He is 8 1/2 and we got him when he was 2 from the Humane Society. A few months after we got him he got out of the yard and ran a couple blocks away. My husband and I finally found him and he was on one side of the block and I was on the other and a car was in the road. The car stopped and let Dempsey cross and rather than just going across the street he stopped and peed on the cars tire, what an a$$hole! Overall, he is a pretty sweet dog, but he does this thing when he is grumpy or tired that just cracks us up. He has a very distinct "brrrr" it's not a growl, just a grumpy, I don't want to be bothered noise.
I think he is going to be VERY jealous of a baby because he's definitely a mama's boy, but his temper will be great I'm sure. He does like to "heard" my nephew when he's running around, but he doesn't growl or bite, so that's good.
My furbabies Lurkey and Bugzy! They are 8 monthsish and so sweet. They sleep with me and my SO every night. They have delt with his 2 yr old niece very well they just hide when they get annoyed with her lol. I think they will be fine with the baby. On a vacation to visit my Dad in Maine we rescued a little palm sized mewwing, alone, skinny, boogery, kitten from a corn field. He likes to perch and watch us hence Lurkey lol. Once he was recovered he was very energetic and I knew he needed a friend, so I got Bugzy from a friend at work in Connecticut. Its funny how similar they look from two totally different litters! Bugzy got his name because he has little black spots on his white paws that look like bugs hiding on him lol.
