DD is in the 99th percentile for her weight and the doc said she is too big but just would like to compare other babies her age's weight. Please drop them below

  • DD is in the 90th percentile for weight. Why do they say your DD is too big? What do they suggest you do? I haven't heard this yet with my DD but I'm curious about why a doctor would think this is a problem as an infant. It's not like we are feeding our kids soft drinks and bacon fat.

  • Born 10/11/15. 7lbs 9oz, 18inches
    On 12/22- 15lbs 4oz (93%), 24in

Dr also said she is worried about obesity. He is extremely hungry baby. He was drinking over 40oz a day so i started rice cereal. (I know i know, they dont recommend until 6 months). My daughter had acid reflux and i was adviced to start early. He had similar symptoms.
All i can say is, you are the parent. Take in all the advice from your doctors, moms, and mil and make the decision that u feel is best for your child
my son now sleeps 8-9hrs a night and drinks 32oz a day.
Plus chunky babies are so cute and once the start crawling and walking they will lose it all.
  • My girl was 7lbs 11 oz at birth and weighed 10 lbs 13 oz at her 2 month checkup, when she was 9 weeks. The doctor said she's 5th percentile for her weight and 75th for her height.
  • My little guy:
    DOB 10/2 - 6lbs 7oz
    3 months - 12lbs -10th percentile
  • DOB 10/31/15 8#2oz
    2 months 12#10oz
  • It's odd to me that percentiles don't match up among us. My LO is 9 weeks, 9 lbs 4 oz and our pedi said she is in the 25th percentile. If they don't match up, it's obviously not something to be too focused on.
  • I wouldn't worry about weight before they are moving around. Once they start crawling and walking they will be burning more calories and won't gain at such an incline!
At 2.5 month check up LO was
    14lb 1oz = 90-95%
    25.5 in 99%
We have enough going on, you shouldn't be worrying about their weight at 2 months!!!!
  • My DD was 38%, 11lbs 2oz, 22.25in

I feel like she's getting huge lol!

I was just thinking the same thing as I read through the replies!

From what my pedi told me it goes based on with birth weight and age. So my LO was born on 10/20/15 at 6lbs 7oz. She's a peanut and is only 9lbs 6oz and therefore is in the 10th percentile. The way the doctor described it to me was you line up 100 babies who were born on the exact same day and the exact same weight and whatever % your baby is is where your baby would be on that line. Does that make sense? So it makes sense other % don't match up based on dates alone, must be the same birth weight too if on the same % scale.

    Hope that helps!

  • 18lbs at 3 mos. No clue on percentile but obviously very healthy. 100% EBF
  • LO born 10.12.15
    11.5 weeks
    13.5lbs 29inches long
    58%
  • Thanks so much guys!! DD is 11 weeks and 15.1lbs.. She's formula fed, idk if that matters

Is your son breastfed or formula fed?

The charts used are not the same for formula and breast fed babies. The who puts out one and the cdc the other. So a breast vs formula baby will not match.
