Pronunciation of Gabrielle

Not sure if language impacts it (DH's grandmother was Gabrielle and she was French) but I'm unsure of the proper pronunciation in English, or at the very least, people's natural instinct when they say it. What say you?

I have never heard it pronounced gay-brielle. That's how I would say Gabriel.  Gah-brielle is how I would pronounce it.

This. Gabrielle is feminine, Gabriel is masculine.

I agree with PPs, but for what it's worth, my MIL (who is French Canadian) is named Gabrielle and pronounces it "Gay-Brielle". That's the first and only time that I have ever heard this pronunciation (I also prefer "Gah-Brielle").

Great, thank you. It's on our (very premature) list as I think it's pretty, and I also very much like the NN Gabby. It's a happy coincidence that it's DH's deceased grandmother's name.
