Any other high risk mamas out there yet? I though maybe we could have a high risk check in since we tend to go to the OB so frequently and are monitored so closely!
I have a blood disorder called Prothrombin Gene Mutation which causes me to form blood clots easily with all the extra estrogen and hormones our bodies make when we become pregnant. This will be my second baby so I am used to the drill of twice daily shots of blood thinner and seeing my OB and MFM Specialist almost weekly for the next 9 months. I called my OB this morning to schedule an appt after I got 3 BFP on Thurs/Fri/Sat of last week. They asked me to come in straight away to have some blood work done and called in a script of Lovanox (blood thinner) that I will begin injecting today, ouch!! I will not have result from blood work until tomorrow, but I still remember with my first this is when the constant worrying begins... Please send good vibes my way and share your high risk story too (if you feel comfortable) so we can give each other some extra hugs and support
Wishing you lots of luck and strength through all those shots.. although it must bring a ton of anxiety, at least you know about the issue already, your doctors know what to do, and you've been through it all before and had a healthy baby! Hopefully this time around things will be much easier for you and your body will know what to do.
I'm not high risk, not anything that I know of besides being 35, but we do have a genetic issue where we are both carriers of a pretty bad genetic disorder. So I will be worrying until we can get that scan at 12 weeks..

@KarenBeth714 Thank you! And yes its not as much of a surprise this go round as we were truly blessed with my son. All the shots are worth it! Sending you good vibes for your 12 week scans!
@Aleeyna I read your intro and am so happy your IVF was successful! My cousin had been trying for 5 years before IVF and after the 2nd round she became pregnant with her little twin girls. I am in such awe of the strength and patience required to endure that process! Wishing you a H&H 9 months! And keep us updated on your progress!
I am also high risk. I'm setting at the doctors as we speak waiting to get the perscription for lovanox and progesterone. I have protein c deficiency and lupus. I have lost two pregnancies this year, so I'm thankful we've found the cause, yet super nervous too. Thankfully I have a great fertility specialist and ob, but know I'll be living on prayer and hope these next months!
I'm high risk due to issues in prior pregnancies. I've had gestational diabetes in each of my 3 prior pregnancies that seems to get harder to control each time. Last pregnancy I was diagnosed at 12 weeks and on insulin at 20 weeks. So I expect to have it again this time. It always goes away after pregnancy but my PCOS is likely the culprit for GD. I also had pre-e with my first baby. And gestational hypertension with my third baby (likely to turn into pre-e if we waited longer). My third baby also had a rare genetic condition so we will be doing a lot of testing this time around. (NT scan, bloodwork and likely an amnio). My NT scan with her did show an increased nuchal fold but the MaterniT21 b/w was normal so we will probably do an amnio this time for peace of mind.

I too am high risk. I just got my BFP sunday and went to the doctor yesterday to get bloodwork for HCG and progesterone levels. I find out the results later this afternoon. I have PAI-1 4g/4g and MTHFR heterzygous C677T. Both blood clotting issues. One can form clots, and the other can't break them down once formed. I take 40mg shots of Lovenox (and have taken them from 3 days past ovulation) because my issue is chemical pregnancies. So we are hoping the shots will help prevent clots from forming even prior to implantation. I am also taking progesterone and baby aspirin as well. I have suffered 4 losses this past year, 3 chemicals, 1 mmc at 8wks. This is now my 5th and I am 4 weeks 1 day. My past chemicals have always been around 4 weeks 5 days so naturally I am on pins and needles. I hope everyone here has very sticky beans and wishing you all a happy and safe 9 months!

I am considered high risk due to a rare heart condition. My first pregnancy with my son was difficult after 20 weeks, as my son had iugr and was measuring small (he is still very small always measuring in the 10th percentile.) We had to deliver him at 35 weeks when he hadn't grown enough and had reverse blood flow through the umbilical cord. We spent two weeks in the nicu and he has been perfectly healthy ever since ! We lost our second son at 16 weeks as it turns out he had my heart condition as well. Hoping for happy and healthy pregnancies for all! I called the dr today and set up an appointment for the end of January
Sorry for your loss @qtpierae but happy your son is happy and healthy! My son was delivered early too (36 wks) and was/is TINY! Measuring below 5% for height and weight but always right around 60-70 for head circumference. He's got quite a dome! But we say its because he's so smart
T&Ps for you @kickassi78 Im on pins a needles for you! Keep us updated and sending you sticky baby dust!
I finally, after calling my OB 6 times!!! got my beta results back in. At 4 weeks 3days my hcg is 137 progesterone 15.8 which im pretty sure are normal, not high or low. I looked at a few charts on line to come up with that hypothesis Im going back in tmrw for more bloodwork to be sure the numbers are doubling.
@izzetoot congrats on the good numbers. It takes so much off your mind when the blood work comes back good. @kickassi78 you're in my prayers girl. It sucks to have any loss, but one after another gets to be too much. This lovanox hasn't been bad so far although my belly already looks terrible. I'm a little worried because my eyelids are swelling and the bruising from little things is out of control.
High risk here as well. It is due to type 2 diabetes with insulin dependency. I just got my BFP on the 26th with 322 for my HCG. We'll find out Monday if this will be another multiple pregnancy (we have 6 year old twins) or not which could complicate things moreso. Although, with our twins, I carried them to 37 wks 5 days with little complications and excellent blood sugars. So hopefully this will be just as sucessful, no matter how many babies there are.
I also have a blood disorder. ITP -- it is autoimmune. Basically my body attacks my platelets and when they are low I bruise very easily and potentially bleed for no reason. I haven't had an episode in almost four years and am technically in remission, but have always been told that I will be a high risk pregnancy and since this is our first baby I'm also on pins and needles. I also have Hashimoto's disease and we conceived through IVf so I'm being being monitored closely for that as well.
@Sarafuss@obimoma@izzetoot I'm sad to report that I lossed my baby on Sunday. Another chemical. 5th loss in a year. I'm heartbroken. Doctors appt is at 2:30pm today to discuss our next steps. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. Hopefully someday they will be answered.

@kickassi78 Im so so sorry and very sad to hear this. You are such an amazingly strong person to be going through this again this year. I wish I could reach through the internet and give you real ((((hugs)))) Please keep us posted on what the future holds and until then I will continue to pray for you
Hi everyone! I am high risk as well. This is my 4th pregnancy in the last year. All previous pregnancies have ended with a MC. I will be monitored closely in the 1st tri.
I haven't had my 1st appointment yet so not 100% sure if I will be HR or not. But I was with all 3 of my other pregnancies so it is very likely I will be with this one as well. I will also be turning 35 during this pregnancy.
My 1st son was born with CMV and SGA. He was 5lbs 2 oz at 39 weeks. My last two boys were both IUGR and I had Oligohydrominos with them aka low fluid. One was born at 38 weeks and was 3lbs 15oz. THe other was born at 36 weeks and was 4lbs 10oz. All three boys were NICU babies as well.
@mrsgillingham Hello! Im so sorry to hear of your losses this year praying that you have a h&h 9months and we are here to support you along the way!
@618mom22boys I had a tiny baby boy too born 36 w 6lbs 3oz and dropped to 5lbs 7oz overnight, but not considered SGA. I was induced early because of a blood clotting disorder. We waited until the last possible moment to induce measuring him around 7lbs, boy were we surprised! He's been my teeny weeny ever since! 19 months now and just barely 20lbs! I hope this is the least complicated pregnancy for you and hopefully not even HR!
Hi everyone! I am high risk as well. This is my 4th pregnancy in the last year. All previous pregnancies have ended with a MC. I will be monitored closely in the 1st tri.
I'm in the same boat. My first pregnancy edd was 9/15/15 and ended in a loss. 3 confirmed losses (plus one more I suspect was a chemical but the Dr won't confirm it was a new pregnancy and not left over hcg from mc#2) this is my 4th confirmed pregnancy and I'm freaking terrified.

I'm so happy to be on the same BMB as you again! I don't remember which one it was, but we were pregnant together before.
@Alyeena@izzetoot thanks so much. Had a Dr. Appt yesterday and she feels confident that she thinks I have an immune issue and that is the culprit. We are going to run a series of tests to determine if her hunch is true. If it is, there is treatment and she is confident that I will be able to carry my own baby with no problems. If it isn't an immune issue, then she wants to go down the IVF road, to be sure there isn't anything chromosome related. Either way, looks like we have a few more things to rule out before I can officially throw my hands in the air and call it quits, so I remain hopeful. Thanks so much for your hugs and well wishes. It made me feel better.

Thank you for starting this thread! I too am high risk. I had a miscarriage earlier this year after 16 weeks and have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. I am hopeful this time around things will end better than last time now that I am aware of what we are dealing with. I will have to have a cerclage at 13 weeks to sew up my cervix and keep the baby in there. Lovely to have you ladies for support as we go through this journey together!
I am 4 weeks 4 days and am high risk. My husband and I both carry the gene for SMA type 1/SMARD. Our first child was stillborn last June. I am terrified right now but will know if this baby is okay or not by 13 weeks. There is a 1 in 4 chance any pregnancy will result in SMA 1 for me.
First of all I'm so so sorry for anyone who's been through a loss, I've been there and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I'm high risk, this is my third pregnancy this year, first ended in mc at 6 weeks and second went into premature labor at 22 weeks and my son died shortly after being born. Hopefully this baby will stick in there, it's so painful to keep losing my babies. I'll be getting a cerclage at 13 weeks and starting weekly makena shots at 16 weeks, I only have to make it through the first trimester. Good luck to all the high risk strong women here. Prayers and hugs.

I am high risk to my history of losses. This is pregnancy #5 for me. I do have an 19 month old son. My dating is unknown at the moment. She said it was very hard to tell during my ultrasound. I am now on progesterone as my level was really low. I miscarried Dec so we are treating that as my LMP. Another chance to date on Feb 11th. This time we have a heartbeat so the guess is 5/6 weeks. She kept getting a HB of 198 and when I asked if it was mine she she said no, and it's too early too get an accurate reading. Ugh. So hoping that's good. Dr. Google keeps stressing me out. Friday my HCG level was 8875 and Tuesday I got 28867 so it's rising like it should. Really hoping this baby sticks and I get to know you all really well. With my sons pregnancy I went early due to complications and I also had gestational diabeties. Gained a bunch of weight. Now I rock Herbalife and my Dr loves that I will use it during pregnancy. Hopefully will decrease weight gain and GD again!
Thanks for sharing your stories everyone. I have both Factor V Leiden and Prothrombin gene mutations (heterozygous for both) which cause blood clots and had a Pulmonary Embolism (PE) last year. I have been told that I am high risk for both clots for me and MC. This is my first pregnancy and I have to admit I am terrified. So far 5 weeks 5 days. How did you guys handle deciding who to tell and when? I really want to share with some close friends from church because I could really use their prayers. Otherwise we've decided to tell only family and close friends that I would never be able to hide a MC (or want to) anyway, until later on.
Thanks again for sharing. You've really encouraged me with your strength.
@dianamccly I have Factor 5 prothrombin also and am pregnant with my second baby now. I have a happy and healthy 20mo son and was scared to pieces for the first trimester with him also. The second time around, because the first so uncomplicated, I have much more strength and peace of mind. I had a us yesterday and heard the heart beat which was a huge relief. If you want to tell some close friends, I personally would wait until after you hear that heart beat (6-9wks) as the chance of mc greatly decreases after that milestone. I know the mc scare for our disorder is developing a blood clot, so you will most likely be monitored every few weeks with blood tests and should begin taking a blood thinner (I take lovenox) asap. And baby asprin if you aren't already taking it. T&Ps to you and your little bean, the first few months are very scary but you'll get through it!

Thanks izzetoot for your encouragement. It is so hard not to be in control OB (who specializes in high risk) is going to put me on Lovenox next week when he does another US. He said my levels (of some pregnancy hormone that I can't remember) looked good from the blood test this week, 10,000. I am lucky in that I have been seeing a hematologist regularly since I am within a year of my PE so she knows what it going on too. Just praying a lot and trying not to think about it b/c I always end up crying... cause I can seriously cry at the drop of a hat right now. Maybe I should go pick up some baby asprin to take until I get that prescription. Hoping to hear a heartbeat this week! How incredible would that be?! Thanks again so glad to here about your son and how easy that was for you.
Hi ladies. I'm high risk bc I have two (half-sized) uteruses called uterus didelphys. I am at risk for the baby essentially running out of room if my uterus doesn't expand as necessary. I'm having a hard time figuring out when I see my high risk versus my regular ob. I'm almost 7 weeks now and won't see the high risk until 10 weeks.
Late to the game but High Risk here too. We knew I would be going into it so at least I'm prepared. I'm high risk mainly due to pancreatic problems that my first pregnancy caused and I also have non epileptic seizures as well as an incompetent pelvis (but not an incompetent cervix). Over all I expect this pregnancy to be like my last. No problems with baby but it will take its toll on me.

Your HCG numbers look awesome!! I struggle with Dr Google too, its such a bad habit Keep us updated on your progress!!
