Baby Names

Too similar?

Hubby and I had originally decided on georgia claire for our daughter due in 4 weeks but I'm having second thoughts. I'm really leaning towards just Claire in the FN spot (MN undecided).

The only problem is DD1 is Caroline and we're concerned that Caroline and Claire are too close together for a sibset. Any thoughts as to whether or not these are too close?

  • Not at all. Go with the name you really want as the first name

  • It would be too similar for me, but objectively it's not a huge deal. I love Georgia Claire though!

I personally think it's too much of the same sound. Between the L's and the "care/air" I wouldn't do it. If it was Celia and Caroline, I would consider it.

Edit: BTW Georgia Claire is beautiful.

  • Georgia is NMS but I really like your choice of Georgia Claire

  • I think Caroline and Claire would be ok.
  • I like Claire and Caroline over Georgia and Caroline. Too statesy, even though the names came first.
  • I think it would be fine.
Caroline and Georgia is a little odd.
  •  l live in SC near the GA state line.  Our local news anchors are always saying "Now we have your latest Georgia Carolina news", so using those 2 names for sibset would be a no for me.  I love Claire but not so much with Caroline--repeats the "c" and the "air" sounds.  Do you have another favorite classic name?

    How so?

  • I wouldn't choose names starting with the same letter. That's just my personal preference. But if that's no big deal to you, I think Caroline and Claire are fine together. The air thing doesn't bother me.
  • Thanks for all the replies. The only other classic name that I like is hannah and dh just can't get behind it. We also like Audrey.

I guess the names kind of sound 'theme-y' and states-y which bothers me some but not enough to not use it (we live in texas). The sounds (as a pp mentioned) the C,L,R and 'are' sound is what bothers me most.

My guess would be because it's so close to Carolina, so it sounds like a state trend.
