Spotting During 2nd Trimester

I'm on my third day of spotting brown blood. I called the doctor on the first day but they didn't seem to be concerned as long as it remained brown. I have no other symptoms that I can tell. The spotting is on and off, and mostly comes during the day (not early morning or at night). The first day it was only when I wiped. Days two and three the spotting is showing up in my underwear. It also seems to be a little thick and mucousy. It's my first pregnancy and I'm a little concerned. I'm getting mixed reviews on the Internet. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

If your doctor is unconcerned then I'd try follow his advice. As long as the bleeding hasn't gone bright red, increased significantly in volume and isn't accompanied by bad cramping then I'd say you're fine *but* I'm not a doctor and if you need more peace of mind you really should call again as they know better than anyone here. I agree with PP. As long as it stays brown, it's just old blood. Also, if you have no pain or cramping, I wouldn't be concerned.

I had some brown and pink spotting off and on week 16-19. I went to the doctor and they weren't concerned since it wasn't bright red and constant with cramping. I also have a friend who has been spotting through her entire pregnancy- the doctor said its just a norm for her body.

I have had brown spotting this pregnancy since 5w6d it went on for about 4 weeks. I went to the doctors and turns out I have a Sub Chorionic Hematoma they were able to see it on an U/S. Totally normal and very common. I was extremely worried as my first pregnancy ended with "brown bleeding/spotting" at 7 weeks I had no pain or cramping. When I called the doctor they didn't seem concerned either and I took there word for it...I found out at 11 weeks after bleeding brown again that my pregnancy ended at around the 7 week mark. So in my case it was not normal. I didn't take their word for it this time around because of my past experience and they saw me right way. It went away for about 2 weeks and started back up again Saturday morning when I was out of town. I called the doctor Monday morning and was seen later that afternoon. Heard the babies heartbeat and everything was fine. Bleeding for me will continue again and it should go away soon. Everyone has a different story as every pregnancy is different. She did mention to me yesterday that she has seen woman bleed bright red and baby turned out just fine. Its better to be safe then sorry. Give them a call that's what they are there for.
