The swells

I think the swells have begun. I was just sitting here wondering why my sneakers have felt so tight lately. I remembered thinking a few days ago that maybe I wore SO's socks instead of mine and that's why they were so snug but I know today I am wearing *my* socks and my feet feel like they're in a vice. I just loosened them up and it's helping.

I don't really have a comfortable way to elevate my feet while at work. Anyone else dealing with swollen feet yet?

Re: The swells

  • Yep! I took my shoes off when I got home the other night and you could see where the strap had been. It's not every day just the ones where I am 9n my feet a lot.

  • Starting here too. Got a little worried and took my blood pressure but it was fine. I just put my feet up as much as I can and drink a lot of water. Seems to help.

  • My swells started last week. My hands even had them. My left foot felt like it was carrying a bag of water.

  • My swelling has actually gone down a lot since the first tri. Only thing that helped me was drinking a crap ton of water, and laying down with my feet up when I got home.
  • Compression stockings!

  • I definitely recommend compression stockings. You can buy some otc pretty cheap, at most pharmacies. I started having some minor swelling/discomfort and even more varicose veins, and they have helped a ton. Also mention it to your doc.

  • Yup. I wore my (already kind of tight) rainboots to work the other day and changed shoes in my office... At the end of the day, I couldn't stuff my feet back into my boots. My face is puffy, too. And my fingers. If I didn't feel like a whale before, there's no chance I could feel like anything else now.

  • ugh, i'm about to get on a 6 hour flight...I can't imagine what my feet and hands are going to look like after that!
  • I second the compression socks. I'm on my feet all day, every day and before I started wearing them my feet would swell and my legs would be super restless every time I tried to sit or lie down.
  • thankfully my swelling isn't obvious but having to wear boots do not help at all.

  • I'm on my feet all day and ditto the compression stockings. I wore them through my previous pregnancy and has very minimal swelling even at 9 months... In August... In Arizona.
  • I've been at Disney the last five days.. My ankles are so swollen it's ridiculous. Taking tomorrow off to try and stay off my feet for a day!

  • I agree, compression socks saved my life on a recent business trip. I noticed my feet are also starting to swell after long car rides, like 2 hours in the car....so moving, drinking water, and elevating them also helps. So far it's just my feet but I'm guessing that I'll have more swelling in the weeks to come. 14 more weeks to go!!!
