I posted and someone gave me the great idea of doing a poll for each gender! Last name starts with a B and is 2 syllables (9 letters). MN will be Jayne (after my little sister). P.S. I posted this but it isn't showing up so hopefully this doesn't post twice

  • Audrey is very pretty! I never thought of Aubrey as masculine so thank you for bringing that up to think about!!!

  • Definitely Audrey.

I know the sweetest little Aubrey. She was named after a sweet Aubrey. I don't think of it as masculine. Nowadays if I met a male Aubrey I wouldn't be impressed! I don't care for Audrey at all. And I really like Audrey Hepburn-so who knows!
  • I voted Layla. I like Aubrey too, but love Audrey. If Audrey was a choice, it would be #1 for me. Audrey Jayne is lovely. There are too many Lillian/Lilys to me.
  • Aubrey is a masculine name. I do not care for masculine names for girls.

Prefer Jane spelled without a 'y'.

Layla and Jane have the same 'a' sound, which is redundant (imo).

Lillian is your best option, although very popular.

  • Voted Lillian but I'm with previous posters - I prefer the spelling "Jane."  Simple, classic and side-eye-free.

My best childhood friend was named Aubrey. She was named after her great grandfather, Aubrey. I have always loved the name because of the connection I have with her. I know it was traditionally a male name but I like it for girls.

    edited to add:
I also don't think people need to be so concerned about "male" or "female" names.
  • I severely dislike Aubrey, my first apartment maintenance man was an Aubrey and he was a super pervert...I shiver every time I see a cute little girl named Aubrey.

I really like Lillian and Layla but Lilli- names are so, so popular. I can name five girls named Lily or a derivative off the top of my head. I like Layla Jayne despite the double y

  • I like Jane as the first name.
  • I voted for Lillian.
Aubrey is a boy's name and I don't like the song association with Layla.

  • I like Aubrey and Audrey for a girl. While I understand some of the negative sentiment around girls with boys names, I think there is room for names to change and morph in how they are used.

Ashley used to be a boys name. It is now almost exclusively used on girls, at least in the states. The only male Ashley I know of is Ashley Wilkes and he was alive during the Civil War.

I don't think using Aubrey on a girl is the same as using something like James at this point.
