Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

starting to miscarry? (graphic details included.)

A bit of background. I'm 35, was pregnant with my first child after 2.5 years of trying. At my 10w u/s I found out that the baby likely died around 7w. I am now around 11w4d. my hcg levels are dropping which also confirms the loss of viability. I am heartbroken, but will be trying again once my body allows for it.

I am hoping to miscarry naturally. I saw my doctor on Friday, so I could get more info. I am Rh neg so I got some bloodwork done to determine if I have rh- antibodies and on Monday I will be getting an injection of rhlg.

Ok the graphic stuff. Yesterday I started cramping a bit and was discharging quite a bit of brown/grey/clear stringy substance. Then I had the tiniest of pink spotting and finally a bit of red and a pea sized red clot. Then went back to brown when I wiped. It's now the next morning and there is some colouration when I wipe, but nothing else.

I guess I'm posting this to know if this is how anyone else started, and how long until it really got going? Hoping to get the worst.of it done before Christmas, but it's not as if I can just push real hard ;)

Along with going through this miscarriage, I also have a miserable cold, so I would love some sympathy (even feigned).

Hope you are all doing as well as we can.in our current situations. Thanks for any insight.

  • Sorry for your loss. My MC started similar to yours, some spotting and stringy stuff. 6 days after I started spotting I felt cramps throughout the day and then felt like I peed. It was blood and clots. I thought that was it because I stopped bleeding quickly and went back to spotting. The next night I had cramps that were more like what I am guessing contractions are lasting for 5 hours. Throughout that time I was in the bathroom a lot passing clots and stringy stuff until I passed the sac. Once that happened the bleeding slowed to spotting and I no longer had cramps. Sorry for the long response. Obviously our experiences will probably differ but reading others stories helped me.
