I haven't been very active due to the first two trimesters of pregnancy for me being sick and too hot. I'm wondering how to be active without always hurting myself and helping move things along for labor. I am currently 38 weeks.
I'm not sure what you mean by sick - morning sickness or something more serious? If you're suffering from overheating I would avoid aerobic exercise that makes you out of breath, you'll just wear yourself out. If I were you I would try yoga. Ask your midwife for details on a good class for pregnancy near you or a suitable DVD to practice at home. Keep doing your kegels. And as the previous poster said, gentle walking can work wonders in late pregnancy to get labour going and keep you active. I would also recommend bouncing about on a birthing ball, there are other exercises you can do with them to help with labour and birth. Good luck!

If you want to be active but haven't done much in the last 38 weeks, I think walking is your best bet. As far as "moving things along for labor", you're still 2 weeks away from your due date. I wouldn't be trying to induce labor until at least 40 weeks. Due dates can be off by up to two weeks.
Swimming! You can walk the lanes, swim slowly on your back or side (or front if you have good breath control) or just splash around. You can even sign up for a low-impact Aquafit class. Water provides buoyancy and really takes the pressure off. And it's great cardio! You burn a lot of calories swimming though so make sure you eat enough on days when you do it.
Also tai chi. It might be a bit late to start since your balance is a bit jacked at 38 weeks but tai chi is great for pain, discomfort and general tension. And it's very low impact but very effective.
