Sharp pain/twinge when standing up too fast?

Has anyone else experienced this? It happens every so often, especially when I go from a sitting position to standing in a quick motion. The pain only lasts a few seconds and then goes away entirely. It always makes me really nervous and I go to the bathroom to check if I'm spotting and etc.  Earlier in my pregnancy I would get the same feeling when I would cough or sneeze. What is this? I plan on asking my dr at my next apt but I'm curious if any of you ladies know or experience the same thing.

  • ^^ What she said.  Happens to me all the time.  I find it happens less if I stay hydrated

  • Yes totally RLP! It happens to me when I roll over in bed.
  • Asked my doctor about this at my appointment Tuesday, it's round ligament pain. Totally normal!
  • Like others said :)
I've had it too - it sucks but it's normal
  • Happens to me all the time!! Sucks

  • Glad I'm not alone ladies, even though it sucks for all of us!! Yes, when I feel a sneeze coming on I have to mentally prepare for the potential sting!

When you feel a sneeze coming on, bring your knees closer to your chest, it stops the pain from happening :)

LOL if only I wasn't so bloated that I could do that!

It definitely does help. It hurts the most for me when I am laying flat on my back in bed and I've found that if I feel it coming on and turn on my side with my knees up, it works wonders
  • Oh yeah, what everyone said. RLP. Try switching positions slower too.
  • This happens when I roll onto my belly at night. Almost feels like ovulation pain!

  • I've had this with all 4 pregnancies very normal!
  • Started at 5 weeks for me. Have to get out of add very carefully and fold slightly when I cough or sneeze and put hand on lower abdomen, it helps me at least. I also make sure I don't twist much at waist-that's a trigger for me too.

I peed myself when I sneezed for the first time this week. It was a new low (and I expect it won't be the last time it happens)

  • My friend has told me stories where she's done this in public while pregnant!
