Introducing myself! Infertility bloodwork results

Hi there! I'm new to the group, and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year. I just turned 34, and have been off birth control for 5 years. At my regular annual gyno checkup, my doctor wanted to run bloodwork and also have me get a HSG test done (hyserosalpingogram) to see if my tubes might be blocked (will be done in January). I just got my blood test results back (done on day 4 of my cycle), and while my doctor said my levels were normal, I've read a lot of conflicting information online that has made me even more nervous! Has anyone with similar levels had any success getting pregnant with Clomid? My levels are:

AMH 1.1
ESTRIDOL 22.54
PROLACTIN 9.2
FSH 6.34
TSH 1.22
Progesterone 0.9

Thanks in advance- I can't wait to hear back from others going through this struggle. I appreciate any support!

Re: Introducing myself! Infertility bloodwork results

  • Welcome @GoTime1016.  I'm sorry I can't remember my lab values.  It seems so long ago that I had them done. Except my AMH was high because I have PCOS.  I did have success with Clomid though.  I wish you luck.  I would also suggest, once your testing is done, you ask for a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.  They know a whole lot more about getting your pregnant than your gyn does!  And don't forget, your hubby should have a SA too.  Good luck!

@GoTime1016 - Welcome! dido what @emsmama15 said! The steps you've made are indeed good first steps. Great that you've had the bloodwork etc. but it is definitely going to be in your best interest to see an RE. Even if clomid is the route first (I did clomid 3 tries before moving to IVF) an RE will monitor your cycle and help support it if need be. I'm sure you've done reading about the HSG... but in case, plan to have some pads available for wear after... and you might have some cramping after. The procedure itself is over very quick though! Good luck!

ps. I don't remember my labs either sorry. another reason to discuss with an RE! :)

  • I don't remember my labs either but I highly recommend you start seeing an re. They will monitor you very closely which will help you get pregnant.
  • Hello and welcome!  I'm going to have to echo those before me who recommended seeing an RE, especially since you've been trying for awhile with no success.  I'm not sure about your lab results, but did your documentation show what the normal ranges are for your age?  Lots of girls on here have had success getting pregnant with clomid, just make sure you are regularly monitored by an RE when taking it!

  • Welcome!! Get an RE for sure! Yeah I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it's the smart thing to do. Also, HSG's suck, so be sure to take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen a hour or so before you go. You're on the right path, just keep truckin! And your labs seem to look ok. Mine were wacky because of my PCOS.
