My first boy was an emergancy section due to preclamsia. My second boy planned section none of which i agreed to because in actual fact im wanting to try and do everything correctly and natrual as possible. Just wondering because ive had 2 will my 3rd have to be section? Also can i be sterilised at 29 because it will be my 3rd? Thanks emma

Both of those sound like questions only your OB can answer? VBAC is usually a hospital and provider dependent situation. I'm sure the age at which a tubal ligation is allowed also depends on your provider.

  • I would use the search function to look up vbac. There were a few threads before that had a lot of information.

And anyone can be sterilized. Whether your OB will do it for you is between you and your OB.
  • After 2 sections it is more likely you'll have a 3rd. Each surgery you have makes it more dangerous to attempt vaginal birth for both you and baby. Talk to your OB and get all the information you can, because they sometimes can support your TOLAC after 2 sections. Either way, make sure you are in a hospital that will be capable of getting you into an OR right away should something happen. Good luck!

  • I can't answer you on the VBAC  X2, that is somethign for your Dr and the hospital.

As for sterilization; I am assuming you mean a Tubal Ligation aka tubes tied. That also depends. Each state, hospital, Dr and insurance has it own policy/rules/law regarding Tubal Ligations. It wont hurt to ask.

I have already spoke to my provider about it. Howerver, I will be having a 3rd C/S, and I am in my 30's. I also know the state laws and I have reviewed my insurance requirements.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • My doc told me that after 2 c sections you have to get them because the uterus is weakened and could rupture with the stress of labor. And I would say they would let you get your tubes tied since you have 3 kids. Good luck and ask your doc to clarify further.

  • I just talked with my ob about whether I should try vbac or have a 2nd c-section. I am leaning towards a 2nd c-section for many reasons, one of them being that they can tie my tubes at the same time. It only takes 4 more minutes and then I don't need to think about birth control for the rest of my life! However, I am only 30 and this is a permanent decision so I am not 100 percent decided yet. My ob did say that now they take out a tiny portion of your ovary which research is showing reduces ovarian cancer by 50%! My mom had ovarian cancer so this is influential in my decision.
