Not eating solids

My Lo is seven and a half months old and she will not eat solid foods of Any kind. If she doesn't eat then we go ahead and make her a bottle which she will happily take. So, should I not give her a bottle and make her go hungry until she finally eats her solids? That sounds so terrible though, and I would hate to starve my child. Please help!

    Edited because I can't read:

Food before one is just for fun. Does she have teeth yet? You should definitely still let her take a bottle, but offer her food at off times. Like if you fed her a bottle, try offering food 2 hours later. Or continue to offer food prior to the bottle.
  • My LO is the same way, and ironically I am a speech/feeding therapist. I still try to feed him at least once a day. I offer him both finger foods like small pieces of steamed veggies, or puffs, along with baby food. I let him get messy and play around with the food and the spoon, so that he doesn't develope negative feelings about it, but is still being exposed to it. He loves to drink out of a cup and sometimes I can get him to drink baby food. I am hoping it's just a lack of interest and soon enough he will want to eat. Good luck!

  • Maybe it's the consistency. Make it watery and thin it out. Mix in more liquid with water or formula or breastmilk. It might be a texture thing. But try different foods. My baby doesn't like fruits but she gobbles up veggies and baby cereals. I sneak in fruits with her veggies. Like apple/ sweet potatoes. And parsnips/pears.

I've had mom friends who mix a little baby cereal into their formula bottles. They said it helped baby sttn. I've not tried it though. We started out with a teaspoon. Then gradually added more when she finished a teaspoon. Definitely good that you dont force it on them and let them get a feel for the food. If they still don't take it, then try again another day. Gl!

    I would follow baby's lead.
  • @cambam7 Parsnips/pears -- that sounds like a great combo!

OP, I find that my LO prefers her "solids" fairly soupy, so I second the suggestion to try mixing in more liquid.
