Sudden and very brief, painful cramping; baby has not dropped yet...

I'm 34 weeks as of tomorrow, I have mid and lower back pain most of the day, every day. My doctor has said everything is normal and both the baby and I are healthy as can be and I shouldn't expect any complications at all. Just a few moments ago I was standing in my kitchen and out of nowhere I had really painful cramps literally just come and then go. They only lasted maybe five seconds and they hurt, bad. This is my first baby so I am only guessing when I say labor probably hurts way more. It just worries me because of all the cramping I've been experiencing since entering my third trimester, none of it hurt... It was just a sort of cramping feeling, and this time the cramping HURT.. Like I had just started my period, something I haven't felt since April. I naturally went straight to google looking for answers but everything I found was talking about how after the baby has dropped you may feel BH but my baby girl hasn't dropped yet. I just want to know she's okay. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow but that won't help ease my mind tonight. Only thing sort of helping is that she is still moving like crazy, I just don't want to go into early labor.

Agreed! Baby is prob pushing down on your cervix and practicing positions.

If you're a ftm the baby could wait to drop until you're in labor. Some women feel it, some don't. Honestly the cramping sounds like braxton hicks to me. Contractions can be explained differently by a lot of women. Mine always just feel like ridiculous cramps. Some feel the tightening that wraps around. Some feel a combination. I would stay away from Google as it usually just makes us worry . If your doctor said everything was good with you and baby I'd trust that. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and staying really hydrated because this can also bring on braxton hicks. Good luck!

You can feel BH at any time once the uterus is large enough to feel them. It doesn't happen only after the baby drops. I'm STM, 39w1d and this baby still hadn't dropped at my appt last Thursday. I've been feeling BH since around 17 weeks or so. BH can hurt. Sometimes they are only annoying and you get the tightening in your belly, but I had some while walking around the grocery store a couple of weeks ago that made me stop and put my head down. They stopped after I got home and sat down for a bit. And lightning crotch - it's like all the nerves lit up down there, not in the belly.

Of all the reasons given in that article, I think mine is mostly nerve pain from baby and round ligament pains.

I have maybe only 2-3 times had cramps which went away pretty quickly and this was during 3rd trimester. I knew that my ligaments and pelvis everything is stretching in preparation for d-day so i wasn't worried about it...

My dr asked me at my 34 week appt how are u feeling. Are u aching in certain areas or everywhere and he says i'm pretty sure everywhere.... Its normal to experience this but i get some mums to be get so worried about this....

Have you had "lightning crotch"? This doesn't sound like it to me. I've had it in all of my pregnancies and wouldn't describe it like this.

Sounds like baby pushing on your cervix, but it can't hurt to call your doc.
