Hypnobabies

Hey, I posted something about this a couple of months ago but it was really early for most people to have been thinking about this, so I wanted to check back now. Is there anyone else doing the Hypnobabies home study course? I'm in lesson 4 and spacing it so I'm doing one lesson over two weeks. I would LOVE to be able to talk about this with someone other than my husband and the "live" course is not offered in my country.

Re: Hypnobabies

  • I'm not doing hypnobabies but I am doing a hypnobirthing home study course that I am going to start this week (planned on starting earlier but the weeks snuck up on me) ☺️ There aren't any live classes offered in my area either. I'm excited and hopeful that the course improves this birth experience. Like I said I am about to begin it (I'm 30 weeks Tuesday) so I don't have too much to be able to say about it yet I've only done the first bit of reading!

  • I bought it, but haven't started it yet.
  • I am doing the hypnobabies home course, I did it for my first baby too. I started a few weeks ago but then got caught up with school too much so I'm about to resume at full speed starting again in lesson 2.

Yup, this is my second hypnobabies birth. Just started week five today. I had a great experience last time and am really thankful for the program!

ETA: Forgot to mention, also doing the home study. And that I would love to chat about this every so often, too. On my last BMB we had a weekly checkin towards the end of our pregnancies.

  • A check-in would be great! I'm enjoying the course a lot but it's so hard to find the time to practice the finger-drop thing and listen to the tracks and affirmations. Those of you who've done it, did you feel like everything came together in the end?
  • I live in the UK and my midwife is running an intensive course, had my first 3 hour session last wednesday, it was amazing, and even my cynical fiance was impressed by the end! I am now reading the katherine graves 'hypnobirthing book' which comes with a cd to practice at home with too. It also has loads of practical guides about natural birth including reducing the number of people in the room, being somewhere you consider a familiar safe setting, and then information on things like perinium massage which i'll be starting soon. Reading the book alone has stopped me from feeling fearful and now i'm super excited to get to 40 weeks! Feels like such a long time still!

@ra002085 I live in Ireland - here, something called Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method is very popular, due in large part to the Irishwoman called Mary Mongan who developed it. Hypnobabies, though somewhat similar, is more popular in the US. Which method are you using, exactly? Sounds great.
  • What course do you all recommend? We don't have a class where I live.

  • I am taking the hypnobirthing classes (the Mongan Method) here in CA. I've had 2 so far. It makes a lot of sense!
