Monday bitchfest

Re: Monday bitchfest

  • I want to bitch about the fact that this entire community doesnt want to be 100% unicorns and rainbows!!!
Just kidding. I legit look forward to my breaks throughout the day to come see the snark :)

But seriously, I'm SOOOOO over these stupid hot flashes in the middle of the night. I go to bed in sleep shorts, a t-shirt and socks because I KNOW I'm going to burn up in a matter of just a few short hours, but then I end up freezing my ass off (even though I have a thin comforter because DH steals all the sheet and the regular blanket)!!

I said it in another thread but I don't care because I want t bitch about it and pity myself for a couple days. i just found out I have celiac disease but all I can keep down is bread.. Which I can no longer have. Along with the best carbs in the world.

I think I mentioned it in your other thread but I have it too.  There are some good gluten-free breads out there.  Have you looked for them at all?  I found that toasting the bread (in a dedicated toaster for gluten-free bread only or toasting it in a clean pan) helps the bread maintain its form (gluten free bread is a little crumbly).
Very true. I found Udis bread for a relatively cheap price (for GF food) at Costco. I didn't try it until months after going GF so I could be wrong but I swear it tastes just like regular bread, a bit dry but regular bread.

Yup, I agree.  Udis is honestly not bad.  Another good one escapes me right now....but Whole Foods has a lot of options if you are near one of their stores.  Aldi's makes a gluten-free bread too that is actually pretty tasty (I'd stay away from their gluten free mac'n'cheese though...it tasted terrible).

I did not like EnerG or Schar brand products...they taste terrible to me.  I always get mad at Schar and their buns too sometimes for hot dogs...they end up falling apart.  :(

Another one...Against the Grain makes a really decent gluten-free frozen pizza and Glutino's products (their crackers and cake mixes) and generally great too.

Thank you for this whole thread, I'm literally going to screen shot and save this so I know what to get and not to get!
  • sdLindenberg - I remember hot flashes from my first pregnancy.  The got worse PP.  That's when I realized I had all the symptoms of my menopausal mother.  Hormones suck!

I have Celiac too! I'm in Canada, but I think we have several of the same brands available. I like Udi's bread too, but I'm currently on a multigrain Glutino kick because the Udi's always friggin has holes in it! I get ticked when I realize that I've paid almost $7 for a hollow loaf of bread, lol.

Betty Crocker and Price Chopper brand cake mixes are good. My favourite crackers are the Mr. Christie rice thins and the Mary's or Crunchmaster ones with the seeds (I get these at Costco). Bisquick has a mix that makes decent pancakes too. Do you guys have Loblaws or President's Choice stuff near you? Their mixes are actually very good as well! I hope you find some things you like soon. I've had Celiac and been GF since I was one and can assure you that prepared GF stuff has come a loooooonngg way since then! There is some good stuff out there!
  • It's not Monday, It's Thursday but I want to scream and I need to post this somewhere. I just got off the phone with my OB office and the little receptionist said I can not do any ultrasounds before my 20 wk anatomy scan because "they just won't be able to see anything" .... EXCUSE ME!!!!! people everywhere are getting them at 15 and 16 weeks and it's clear as day!!! I so want to walk over there and smack her. It's also the only time my husband will be able to attend an appointment. so why not humor me and do it. I am paying for it anyways! The freaking ultrasound girl had a "very strong feeling" at 12 wks. ugh!!!!! rant over!
