However, I went on a trip on a trip with my niece on Saturday and there was a 5 year old boy on the coach who was also called Reuben, he was an awful child and I know that's really nasty to say but he was the rudest and most disrespectful boy I have ever come across. Now I feel like I can't call my boy this as it's put me off

I know this happens when you start thinking of names and know someone with the name it is a turn off. However, you will never see the kid again and it does not mean your boy will be rude. I think if you love the name then stick with it.

I was on the coach 3 and a half hours which was a nightmare in its self as I am 31 weeks pregnant (I didn't really think it through properly) and to hear that name was a nightmare for me. I've not told anyone who I know the name I have chosen so im hoping that in time I will forget about this horrible child and start to love the name again.

My husband works in a school, there are many names we can't use because we associate the name to not very nice children. However, he is around these children 180 days a year for 8-9 years, unlike your situation. I say stick with it. It is a cute name and like PP said, you will never see that child again.

I've tried not to think of the child but I got a delivery this morning for a sticker I have had made for his nursery wall and it says Reuben on it so it all came flooding back to me.

My partner laughs and tells me not to be so silly but he doesn't realise how it effects us women hahah

That happened to me & I couldn't go back to the name. But it was more than one of our name.

I get where you're coming from. I have some names that I'd otherwise really like, but can't stand due to negative associations. Like PP said, I'd give it a week or two, don't think about it, then come back to it and see how you feel.

My husband and I are both teachers. Makes choosing a name really hard!
