Prenatal Vitamins & Nausea

Hey Everyone,

So I have been taking prenatal vitamins since we decided we wanted to TTC since it is very important to get those vitamin levels up! However no matter what I always get nausea after taking them. I mostly take them with meals to try to help avoid this but I am finding that I often still feel nauseous for an hour or so afterward. I am taking a NatureMade one that also has DHA. Anyone else experience this even while taking with food and can recommend one that is just as beneficial but maybe a little easier to stomach?

  • Are you taking pills or chewables? I found that the pills made me sick to my stomach, too, so I switched to the gummies. I have since not had an issue. I can't remember the brand off the top of my head, but I'll look when I get home tonight, if you like.

  • @schuette2 I am taking a pill, I am always skeptical of the gummies lol I have no idea why! But if they will make it easier to take the pills maybe I will switch after I finish this bottle since I just bought a new one! If you could let me know what brand that would fantasic and if it has DHA?

  • Will do! It definitely has DHA - I won't buy it if it doesn't. I want to say it was the first response prenatals, or something like that, but I'll check for sure when I get home.

  • I was taking Rainbow Light for a while. They're food-based, and supposedly easier on the stomach for that reason. I will warn you, however, that they're massive! Mine didn't have DHA but they have one that does.
  • @xstatic3333 never heard of that brand! I already have trouble with the size of the pills I am taking now so might not be the best for me to take these if they are huge! The gummies sound like a good idea to me lol. I've heard for some women it always makes them nauseous but figured better to try and find on that won't!

  • I would take them at night. Literally right before you go to bed. So your body can digest while you sleep and you wont notice any nausea.

  • I've heard that some women are sensitive to the iron in the prenatals. You could try a brand that does not contain iron, or at least less of it.
  • @lilylover27 - The ones I have are the First Response gummies. Sorry I didn't respond sooner - I've been down with a nasty cold the last few days.

  • @schuette2thank you! No problem, been battling a cold myself as well. That time of the year I guess!

  • The iron in the pills make me nauseated. I took the Nature's Made pills with my son and they were so tough to swallow, I noticed some brands now split it out into two pills, probably to make it more manageable.  I take the First Response gummies and haven't had issues with them!
