Infertility

Weird question I hope I don't need the answer to- can you fly after embryo transfer?

Hoping all our embies make it to day 5 and this is a moot point, but we got our day 2 update and of our 8 fertilized we had only 6 that cleaved....our last cycle we lost 1/2 by day 5 and so I am preparing myself mentally and hoping that we at least have some to transfer day 5  if we don't have enough to freeze BUT that would be Monday and I am scheduled to fly home (to Canada!) Tuesday. I know they usually tell you to go back to your normal routine except no baths etc and I will definitely ask my RE  for her opinion. If I have to cancel my trip so be it, this is more important, but just wondered if anyone has ever had to travel post transfer and if it is ok???
Thanks for any input!

My RE and nurse say it is better to be on bed rest (or couch rest, basically sit or lay down and limit time being standing up) for two days following a transfer.

It is perfectly fine to fly when pregnant, but I have no idea if it will be bad for implantation. I would definitly ask.

  • My RE told me the same thing about bed rest for 2 days after. I think it's important to not pick up heavy objects (luggage would be example) exercise, intercourse etc until pregnancy test. My RE knows I'm flying about 6 days after, but I'll be sure to take it really easy and not pick things up.
