Scared to sleep

My son is just under 5 months old and he has started flipping from his back to his tummy. This was exciting until he did it in the middle of the night last night. My husband and I woke up and heard very quiet whimper/grumbles but I don't even think he woke us up. I think we just woke up at the right time
He's done it a few times in his crib since last night when we weren't looking and now I'm so worried to sleep. He can't get from his tummy to his back again. I'm scared he's going to suffocate.
Anyone else going through something like this?

Re: Scared to sleep

  • I want to clarify I did see a similar post but my son isn't rolling onto his tummy to sleep. He does tummy time basically by himself. He grunts and strains while his head lifts up til he gets tired then his face goes into the mattress. So I'm worried he will not just roll his head to the side to sleep.

  • I think this is the worry of all mamas. But have you tried baby monitors!? There's some that even tell you when baby is breathing and all
  • We haven't but he sleeps in his crib right next to our bed still. Which one(s) have you tried? @n3na94
  • I still haven't bought one yet because I'm debating between the owlet and the angel care. I've heard great reviews for both. Currently I'm co-sleeping with my son but as soon as he sleeps through the night, We will transition to his crib. I'm planning on getting one this Christmas but there was also a thread about baby monitors and there's reviews from other mamas if you're interested in checking that out! Good luck! (:
  • Yes! Baby monitor :)
  • There are also breathable crib mattresses. They are basically just mesh fabric stretched over 2x4s. I don't have one, but I think it's genius.
  • I had this same problem and got the owlet monitor. I really like it and I am sleeping much more throughout the night now that I can see my LO heart rate and oxygen levels while he's on his belly.
