For those of you that get sensitive nipples Does it occur before O, the day of O, or generally after O?  I do not temp so I am trying to figure out if this is a sign of O day or that I have already Ovulated. Thanks!!!!!

Re: Lets talk about Nipples!!!

  • For me it is normally about a week before AF. Although there's always variants month to month.

  • Temping is a really the only way to confirm ovulation.

I never get sensitive nipples around O
This is not a reliable sign of ovulation and even if it was every woman is different

  • I am not asking if it is a reliable sign.  I am just curious of those that do get this symptom.  The question does not pertain to everyone.

What everyone else said, but I'll throw a bone because I'm fascinated by "symptoms" of hormonal changes during my cycle. I /tend/ to notice sensitive boobs later in my cycle, so I have often wondered if it may be associated with a hormonal shift.

ETA - if you're interested in tracking how your cycle affects your body, I recommend FF to put secondary symptoms on a chart with your temps. It's very interesting.

It'll still be different for every woman and what's a symptom for one may not be for you.

  • I get tender breasts a few days after O until AF arrives. That's usually about ten long days of progressively worsening tenderness and sensitivity.

I never had them before, but this cycle I had sore bbs and nipples starting the day before O and continuing until now ( 3 dpo).  Not sure if it will continue or not.  Might be because of the clomid.
  • Depends on the month.  Sometimes its shortly before O, sometimes during, sometimes after.  Sometimes during AF. Sometimes not at all.

  • I usually don't have sore anything during my cycles but this time I've had sore swollen boobs right before O and still going at 8dpo. They have gotten less tender tho, I think I just produced too much progesterone this cycle like I used to as a teen and that causes them to be too sore. However, I wouldn't rely on this, cycles change all the time. Until this cycle, temping has helped me figure out my cycles way more than sore nips can.

My boobs are NEVER sore :( I'm broken

    ETA TB ate my post.

I also said that right after O they get very swollen/full. But are generally indestructible. Anyone else experience zero soreness??

ETA again I'm a DD. Maybe the nerves are extra padded?

  • Nope no sensitive nips but someone else's body has no bearing to what you may or may not experience.

    Well good luck with that.
  • Right before my period. I'm confused? Nipple sensitivity doesn't tell you anything about ovulation...

  • Ok, let's say that breast/nipple tenderness is reliable. Even so, it's not a good idea to take it as a sign to have sex. Almost every book/source I've read says it usually occurs after you ovulate (not before). So, I wouldn't necessarily be a good way to get pregnant.

"Secondary Fertility Signs are more contingent than the primary signs above. This means that they may not occur in all women - and in the case of ovulation spotting or mittelschmerz, only a minority of women will experience these body signals. It also means that variation in intensity and duration of these body signals will also be unique and difficult to "universalize". That said, by educating yourself to what characterizes these physical signs, and by knowing when they might occur, you may develop a more acute awareness and start to recognize feelings and sensations that would otherwise be attributed to causes unrelated to fertility or completely disregarded."

"Breast Sensitivity: After you ovulate, progesterone is secreted by the corpus luteum. This increase in the hormone progesterone may also contribute to increased breast and nipple sensitivity directly following ovulation."

  • Honestly boobies are sore a good week (sometimes two) leading up to AF for myself.

Which is why I seldom use them as a symptom for TTC since it at some point for me could be a sign of something else but wont know forsure unless I test or AF shows.

LOTS of the same SYMPTOMS can mean AF, KTFU, or O.

  • Hi! My nipples get sooooooo sore when/after I ovulate until the day before I get my period. I got a positive ovulation test on Wed and my nipples have been sore since Thurs. I do not take my temps either but from what I have read, this is definitely a sign!
