No u/s until 20 weeks??

Hi mamas! So this is my second pregnancy (DS is 7 months old) and we lived in a different town when I was pregnant with him. I had a dating ultrasound at 9 weeks and I felt comfortable telling my family I was pregnant after that because I could see the heartbeat.
This time around they said I won't have a prenatal visit until Jan 12th and I won't have an ultrasound until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks?!
This may sound dumb (especially since I just had a baby!) but how am I going to know everything is ok until then? Is it normal to not have an early u/s? We're in Canada btw (if that makes a difference).

yeah, I'm doing a 12 week NT scan so I'll see baby then, but otherwise my first u/s would be at the anatomy scan.

I got pregnant with a reproductive specialist last time and so I saw my son every single week the first tri, this time i'm going crazy!

My OB only does the 12 week NT scan if you elect to do it, otherwise all you get is the 20 week anatomy scan.

Weird. Ask for a dating ultrasound? This would make me truly uncomfortable.

I'm sorry. I just scheduled my appointment today and my doctor's office has me coming in at 8 weeks and doing all the first pre-natal appointment things and an ultrasound. The next three weeks are going to make me crazy as is. There's no way I could wait until I was 20 weeks.

I am seeing midwives at a birth center and they typically only do one US the entire pregnancy at 20w. I only got an early one because of my history of miscarriage.

With both my previous children, it was 18-20 weeks (but that was 7 & 11 years ago). I wonder if that may be different this time around now that I'm 35, not in my 20s? I have to say, I'm definitely jealous of all the mommies getting early ultrasounds, but if the reason I don't is because baby and mom are healthy, I'm happy waiting.
