Rash on tattoo

This is my first pregnancy, and I'm 28 weeks 4 days now. I've been pretty itchy lately and about a week ago I noticed that I had a rash on one of my tattoos that's on my thigh. I've been trying not to scratch it, but now it's getting worse. It's only where there is purple ink though..that's the weird part. It's a multicolored tattoo and I also have other tattoos with the color purple in them. But this is the only one that's developed a rash. It's just a bunch of really itchy bumps, and they're not painful. I have a doctors appointment on Monday, so I'll ask him about it then. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Could my body have developed an allergy to that specific brand and color of ink? Will it go away?

I got this when I was in my first trimester. It was on my left thigh tattoo and was ridiculously itchy. The red bumps spread to other areas of the tattoo, but no where on my unmarked skin. I also got the rash on my upper bicep tattoo. It finally went away, and I figured it was just hormones causing something weird.

The more I scratched the more it spread. It finally went away when I stopped scratching.

On one of my arm tattoos every pregnancy I got a rash on the black ink part. That's so weird, I thought I was the only one

I get this on my tats as well. I think it's just hormonal changes with the skin. I don't think it's a development of a new allergy

It can be your skin having a reaction to the ink because you are pregnant. I had that when prego with my DD. I haven't had an issue so far with this pregnancy. I have 14 tattoos and most of them were all done in the same shop, but it was my tattoo that I had done when I was in Colorado. Different ink than my usual tattoo artist.

Thanks for the answers ladies!! Glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue! Hopefully it'll go away soon.
