1st Trimester

faint lines for days,,,

I took a test 10 DPO and it was NEGATIVE,,, took another each day since & a faint line appears but after about 5 minutes, not instantly or after the "2 minutes" guidlines. Would you consider yourself pregnant if you had VERY faint lines? My period is due today & I know about chemical pregnancy, etc, so I feel unsure as I am not noticing the line getting any darker over the span of the past few days. Just cheapo tests.. but in the pasts, these ones dont even show an evap line, they just dry negative & all of the faint line test i have taken dry with a real line..

Re: faint lines for days,,,

  • When I got my positive, I had a faint but clear line less than a minute out on a FRER at 11 dpo. By 13 dpo, I had a line showing up in well under the window on a wondfo. If you aren't getting anything but a faint line until well after the window to read, I wouldn't put much stock in it quite yet. Try a different brand of test (any pink dye will do really, many don't like the new curved FRs but I don't mind them) and see what the outcome is. If you don't want to do that, keep testing until you get your period or a definite positive.
  • yeah -- i feel like a normal time frame is 4 minutes but these tests say 2! i happen to ALWAYS take the late read for some nagging reason! i usually just save the test so i can look later to say "yes, for sure, its negative." thats why this whole faint line deal is throwing me!

  • If it is outside the time frame, I would consider that a negative. Keep testing until AF or a BFP, maybe try a digital test.

  • I am in the same boat as you. I have had a faint line for the past two days, but it gets darker right around the 3-5 minute window. My previous negatives didn't have any line even after 24 hours. I am going to pick up an early response test tonight. Maybe we have  a slow rising HCG which I hear can happen. FX for us both!

  • Faint lines outside of the time limit are likely evaporation lines.
  • You can't go by the "results" outside of the testing period. If you don't start today, go get another test and try again tomorrow.

  • Yeah I actually was just thinking that maybe they remade these $1 tests & that with my other pregnancies (if I even used $1 test, don't remember) are either just out of my memory or that my old tests just didn't have evap lines & all of these do, new batch etc. it's so hard to not know!

    I would not consider you pregnant at this time.
    Take another tests in a few days.
    No one here can tell you whether or not you're pregnant.

  • I had a faint line this pregnancy about a week before my period on a FRER but it showed up within the time frame. If it was outside of the time frame and would consider it a evap line. Go get a FRER gold (digital) or just a pink dye FRER and take it in the morning with your FMU. If your period is really due today then you should def get a positive tomorrow morning if you are in fact pregnant. Until then I would consider it a negative. Sorry. :(

  • Congrats! I am roughly 15-16 days past ovulation. I got a faint positive last Friday night and Saturday morning. My lines are darker today but still not as dark as the control. I got POs fever as I have miscarried before too and the lines never got darker. Sounds like you were just early! Congrats!

    @jasrun80

    They give a time frame for a reason. Anything outside of that time frame is not reliable. Retest and go with the result you get in the given time frame.
