Tricare anyone?

LO is in tricare through her dad. I was wondering if anyone else has it and if they cover formula with a prescription. She can only take the similac spit up, which is 30 for a small container and she goes through one a week. Im using the similac checks. And we can afford it, but just thinking maybe we can make full use of the insurance if theyll cover some.
(I know they only real way to know is to call, waiting on SO to make that call for me) just a thought on my mind at the moment :)

Re: Tricare anyone?

  • I have tricare but I've never heard of insurance covering formula.
  • Loading the player...
  • I know some do if its medically necessary. ..oh well.
  • Call the Tricare line for the region you live in, it might be like for the breast pump where if you need a prescription they'll tell you what to do and if you needs the Drs signature and where to send it. I've never heard of this either but the military is so weird about stuff like that it's almost annoying when it should be simple. Stupid refealls lol I was so happy to drop down to standard and not deal with that anymore!
  • @KristynLee15, did you ever find out if tricare will cover the formula? I'd be interested to know what they said.
  • I never did. I was able to transition her to generic rice starch formula which is 16 a can. Half the price so im not worried about it now
  • @dparker721 I don't have tricare but my insurance is covering my formula. Ask your pediatrician for a prescription for it and for them to contact your insurance for approval and they will probably cover it (depending on the formula of course- we are on similac alimentum)
