GTKY pets

Anyone have pets? (I know - dumb question, lots of people on here have pets)

We have two 3 year old border collies (one is half Australian shepherd too though) and one small orange tabby that's 8-9. We rescued her when we were in college from AC. Her name is Penny (short for Penelope). Ranger is the half Aussie half border and we got him from a ranch that had a litter. He's the best with our 1 1/2 year old son, they are seriously like best buds. Cooper is my papered border collie that I got from the humane society I volunteer at occasionally. Our eyes met and it was love at first sight. My husband wasn't super thrilled about the fact we suddenly had another dog, but he's such a good dog that my husband can't help but be happy I saved him.

We have a 3 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd mix! We rescued him from a local shelter when he was a tiny little pup. We're not sure what he's mixed with. When we got him they said Border Collie and Aussie but I think he's mixed with something bigger than border collie. He's definitely our baby though and I hope he adjusts well to this little one!

I'm sure he will be fine! Our border/Aussie mix is a bigger boy too - and we met both mom and dad. He's about 55 lbs!

@NLewis1 our guy is about 68 lbs! I'm glad to hear yours do so well with kids!

@mkemommy our pup had to have that surgery too! The recovery was definitely the hardest especially because of the no stairs thing and our bedroom is upstairs. We ended up sleeping on the main level with him so he wasn't lonely lol. He usually always lays on the couch so keeping him off of it was so hard!!

We got our shihtzu when my mom's friend was going to take him to the shelter because she couldn't do the puppy thing. He got parvo shortly after we got him and had some intestinal issues that caused his intestines to literally hang out of his body - - which was pretty traumatizing. He was so sick, I almost put him down but my mom convinced me to do the one last surgery and he's still with us 3 years later. Thank goodness I listened.

His name is Squirt. He came with the name, unfortunately haha.

@MrsB8214 - I'm sorry your pup had to go through the surgery too.  Did he heal ok?  How is he now?  When did he get up on his own? Thankfully our house is a ranch style so no stairs for us but our dog is a guard dog through and through at home so keeping him still will be a challenge to say the least.  We have a sling for him to help him up and out to go to the bathroom...he's too big to assist without it for me.  We also have a soft bed for him for our room.  Anything else you found helpful for the recovery?

We have two Newfoundlands, Sadie (almost 4) & Beau (almost 2). My first dogs, DH has had dogs before. We also have three cats, Cleopatra (14), Isis (who we call Mimi...lol. Poor cat. Her name wasn't an issue when I named her 8 years ago) & Frank, he is 2 & the wholly terror of them all! He gets into Everything at night. If I leave anything on the counter, like a bag of chips, bread, pastries in sealed boxes---ANYTHING, He gets into it. The other night he ate a chocolate Santa belly from Krispy Kreme. Pastries & breads are his favorite.
    Damn cat.
    (Sadie L, Beau R)
(Mimi L, Cleo M & the holy Terror Frank R)

i LOVE newfies!!!! I would totally have one if H would allow it!

We've got a border collie/terrier mix that I adopted. She's almost 8 years old and is the most tolerant, patient and awesome dog! I keep saying I'll never be able to get another dog because she won't be as good. She is awesome with DD1&2 and we can't wait for her to meet number 3 and be the protector.

This is great. I have a big shaggy bearded collie who is a joy and often comes to my office with me. She's a rescue. @arteduc8 your luna is adorable. Reminds me so much of a rescue I had years ago. We never figured out his breed mix but he was a gem.

Love seeing everyone's furbabies. So many wonderful pets! Our gal is 1.5 and we love her to bits. She's a cockapoo and very pack oriented, loves kids to pieces. We feel so lucky to have gotten her (her original owners backed out due to a luxating patella. We figure, you have the dog it's whole life- of course some day it will probably need surgery not a reason to leave the dog). Best decision ever. Can't wait to introduce her to our newest pack member!
