Herniated discs

I found out last night, after a trip to the er, that I have several of not all lower discs herniated. The er doctor was one who usually treats me (oddly same one last three trips) told me these had probably been out of place for a while and I was already producing relaxin, so it just finished the job.
Is there anything I can do for the pain, that's not necessarily involving norco? I'm fine with flexeril, I've take it nearly my entire life... I have tried stretching, but I can't even bend to put on shoes and socks. :(

Re: Herniated discs

  • This is definitely a question for a physician. We can't really recommend different types of exercise as we wouldn't know what is safe for you. Sorry!

I have a herniated disk that doesn't bother me a whole lot until I'm pregnant. My pain will become unbearable in the middle-late second tri.
All I have to offer from my experience is keep moving, see a good physical therapist, tylenol, and rotate hot and cold packs every 15 minutes. My PT helped take the edge off with the massage and different exercises and stretches. The chiropractor did nothing for me.

Unfortunately, pregnancy makes it hard as there's not much you can safely take or do. They wouldn't allow me on the stretcher or do most of the exercises.

    Hope you feel better soon!
