TTC After a Loss

Multiple losses

Is anyone else in the same multiple loss boat as me? I know that others' fertility/experiences have no bearing on my own, but just curious if anyone else has had two consecutive miscarriages (especially those who have after a healthy pregnancy and birth) and has gotten any answers/treatment from their OB or RE.

Re: Multiple losses

  • I'm sorry you've had a second loss. I had two 6 months apart this year but I have no live children. I did blood testing and had a saline sonogram with my OB in September and found out that I have a uterine septum. I'm having surgery to remove it on the 16th of this month.

  • I have no live children, but I went through 2 consecutive losses back to back (august & October because it took me 45 days to O after the first loss in August). I went to my OB and I'm currently having the CD3 & CD21 bloodwork done, from there we will see if a plan of action or further testing is necessary.

    I'm sorry for your losses.

  • Thanks. I think my OB is planning to call me on Monday, but I'm just anxious about what she's gonna suggest.

  • I've had two losses, but they were not consecutive. They also were at very different points in the first trimester (5-6 weeks vs 11-12 weeks) making me feel like the causes were more random.  The OB I saw didn't think any testing was necessary, although I really would have liked to have an answer.
  • @KDHB13, as you know I also went throught 2 mmc btb. I didn't get answers for the first but for the second one the genetic testing showed that my little girl had Turners syndrome (45X). Basically the baby only had one X chromosome, a common cause of miscarriage, very few Turners babies make it to term. It is a fetal chromosomal abnormality so it has no bearing on future pregnancies. The doc thinks that our first likely had something like it and that nothing is wrong with me. However, I am also getting CD3-CD21 bloodwork to rule out anything else before my next pregnancy. DH also got a prescription for bloodwork, and plans on doing it as well. We are trying to cover all of our bases.
Wish you the best and I hope you get answers too.

  • Yes, me. I may have said this on your other post on the loss board. I have an almost four year old. Then miscarried in July and November of this year. I had two D&Cs and had chromosomal testing done on this last one, which I am still waiting to hear about. I have my follow-up appointment in a couple weeks, so not much advice for you or answers yet.

I am wondering (hoping?) that I have low progesterone or perhaps I have developed a clotting disorder. I sort of just don't accept at this point that they were both random, but I guess that is possible.

I'm sorry for your losses. It really sucks.
  • Hi- I have had 2 miscarriages this year (June and October). Both right around 6-7 weeks. I have had 3 full term pregnancies in the past. My doctor is thinking it is chromosomal since I have had successful pregnancies before. She said that I have no higher chance of a miscarriage next time. And, if I should happen to lose another baby, then she will discuss tests with us at that point. Otherwise, we are hopeful and excited for our next pregnancy!
  • I had 2, and we concluded its because the second I get pregnant my thyroid goes out of control. did genetic testing after d&c and chromosomal and nothing came up.

we are trying again and have a positive outlook this will stick with the help of medicine :)
